I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Good bye week and happy to have all of the results in early, just two weeks left and the playoff races are truly just a mess as no one seems to want to grab on to anything and keep it from week to week. This is a huge week for many teams as a bunch could drop out totally and others can clinch spots and know their fate for the wild card round. A lot of head to head matchups that will make a difference in the AFC while the NFC can either see a lot of teams gone or it all devolve into a huge mess. Please, do your best to play your games hth and let’s avoid subs and sims as much as possible. This is the most important time of the season and I really want everyone to have a hand in where our playoffs end up.

In the AFC, we still have 10 teams alive for 7 playoff spots, but there will be movement this week and some teams can be eliminated and make week 18 less important. Denver clinches the #1 seed with a win or Pittsburgh loss as they hold the tiebreaker hth. Pittsburgh can clinch the #2 seed with a win, but can still get the #1 see with 2 wins and two Denver losses. San Francisco leads the West and with a win over Pittsburgh and a loss by Tennessee to LA Chargers as they would hold the division record tiebreaker over LA. From here, we have 7 teams fighting for the final 4 spots and it’s a bit of a mess. LA/TEN and GB/CLE are big games as the loser could find themselves fighting for their lives. Buffalo hosts Seattle and Minnesota plays LA Rams and with wins can both take advantage of the loser in those other two hth games. NY Jets are the last team alive, but have to beat Denver to stay alive and then hope for a lot of losses above them to stay alive until week 18. Chicago, LA Rams, Dallas and Indy are all fighting for draft positioning.

In the NFC, New England clinches the #1 seed and a bye with a win over Carolina and a Giants loss. NY Giants can stay alive for the #1 seed with a win and can move ahead with a Patriots loss but can finish no worse than the #2 seed. New Orleans host Miami and can win the West with a win and Carolina and Arizona loss. Kansas City clinches the #4 seed with a win or losses by Arizona and Carolina. Arizona and Carolina are both in the playoffs, but need wins and a NO loss to have a shot at the division/#3 seed. Seattle holds the #7 seed and will clinch that spot with a win or Houston and Philadelphia loss as they hold the hth tiebreaker over both teams. Houston and Philly need to win and Seattle lose to have any playoff life left heading to week 18. Atlanta, Detroit, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and Miami are all jockeying for draft lottery positioning.

Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up smoothly. If you need a sub, feel free to find your own sub or contact me asap so we can try and get you hooked up with someone to get your game in.  Make sure you have the latest action update which is available on the website.  Game files are up for Week 17, so make sure you go download them and start making contact for week 17 games. If you have any questions, now is the time, so please ask before we get too far into things.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 11/2/24 ***

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Denver stumbles against division/family rival Green Bay and Pittsburgh beats Miami to keep their hopes alive for the #1 seed. San Francisco takes a huge win over NFC bully NY Giants and Tennessee falls to Carolina as the Niners move to the top of the West. LA Chargers win big over Dallas and Buffalo does the same with the NY Jets to keep both tied for the final wild card spots. Cleveland loses a tight one to Minnesota who is just a half game out of the playoffs and Chicago beats Houston. LA Rams win over Indianapolis to close out the slate.

In the NFC New England downs Atlanta while the NY Giants stumble against San Francisco and the Patriots now hold the top spot in the conference. New Orleans gets a big win over Philadelphia and Arizona takes down Tampa Bay. Carolina beats Tennessee to keep the West a 1 game difference while Kansas City just gets by Jacksonville to hold on to the #4 seed. Seattle falls to Detroit in a shoot out but still stays in the #7 spot as Houston falls to Chicago. Miami loses to Pittsburgh to hold on to the #1 lottery spot.

Coming up in the AFC Denver clinches the #1 seed and by with a win over NY Jets while Pittsburgh needs them to lose and win over San Francisco to pull into a tie. Tennessee plays LA Chargers with the winner just about a lock for the playoffs and Green Bay and Cleveland do the same in the East with a similar outcome. Buffalo hosts Seattle and Minnesota has the LA Rams in town with both needing a win to move into the final 2 playoff spots. Chicago travels to Indianapolis and Dallas hosts Arizona.

Coming up in the NFC New England can lock up the #1 seed with a win over Carolina or a NY Giants loss at Jacksonville, while the Giants can move ahead again if they get some help. New Orleans hosts Miami while Arizona heads to Dallas, so any number of scenarios can come out of this week for the West division lead. Seattle needs to beat Buffalo to stay in the #7 seed while Philadelphia has Tampa in town and a win could put them into a tie. Kansas City can officially clinch the #4 seed with a win against Houston who needs the upset to stay alive in the playoffs and Detroit and Atlanta match up for draft positioning.
