I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Two games to go and a lot left to be determined at this point. Denver has caught Indianapolis atop the AFC and New England has passed the NY Giants who once looked unstoppable. I REALLY want to stress that all 28 owners need to do their best to get games played on time and without using subs. I get that some of your teams are out of the race, but you still need to be playing your games and to the best of your ability and trying to give your opponent the best game you can. Upsets keep happening and it is because teams are working hard and that is what makes us a great league. Good luck to all in these final two games, no telling who might sneak in or get bumped at the last minute.

The AFC playoffs Denver has caught Indianapolis for the top spot in the conference and both teams have clinched playoff spots. Pittsburgh pulls a huge upset of Indy and San Francisco beats Tennessee, and both are on the verge of getting into the playoffs needing a win or some other teams to lose in week 17. LA Chargers continue to fight with the Niners out West and are in a dead heat right now for the division title. NY Jets hold the #6 playoff spot and then we have 4 teams fighting for the final playoff position with Green Bay, Cleveland and Chicago a half game up on Dallas.

In the NFC playoff race, New England has clinched the Central and all but clinched the conference (either a win or Giants loss does it). Giants have a 2 game lead on Atlanta, but still haven’t clinched the division (need a win or Atlanta loss to clinch it). New Orleans leads Carolina by a game and Arizona by 1 ½ games in the West, and if they win out take the division though Carolina is coming hard. Atlanta, Houston and Kansas City can clinch playoff positions with a win or some help and Carolina and Jacksonville are tied for the #7 playoff position a half game up on Arizona. Philadelphia is the only other team still alive but have little chance of passing all three teams in front of them.

Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up smoothly.  Let’s see if we can hit the first week deadline with all games played head-to-head and as always if you need help let us know.  If you need a sub, please contact Jeff Shelton asap so he can try and get you hooked up with someone to get your game in.  Make sure you have the latest action update which is available on the website.  Updated game files are up, so make sure you go download them and start making contact for week 17 games. If you have any questions, now is the time, so please ask before we get too far into things.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 11/6/23 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Denver moves to the top of the conference with a win of LA Rams while NY Jets get upset by the Buffalo Bills and the Broncos clinch the division.  Indianapolis has a rough week at Pittsburgh and fall into a tie at the top of the conference despite having clinched the division and Chicago upsets Green Bay to move into a tie for the final playoff spot. LA Chargers shut out Tennessee and stay in a virtual tie with San Francisco who beats Seattle to stay on top of the West. Cleveland beats Miami to stay in a tie for the final playoff spot and Dallas falls to Atlanta and is a half game out of the playoffs. Minnesota beats Detroit at home.

In the NFC New England beats Houston and clinches the division despite Kansas City upsetting NY Giants as they move into a tie for the 4th playoff position. Atlanta beats Dallas to also move into a tie for that spot and move to within 2 games of NY Giants in the East while Jacksonville beats Philadelphia and are tied for the 7th seed in the conference. New Orleans tops Tampa Bay to stay on top of the West while Carolina throttles Arizona to move into second in the division and a tie for the final playoff spot with Cards a half game back. Detroit falls in Minnesota and Seattle is beat by San Francisco. Miami takes a big loss in Cleveland and sit in the #2 draft lottery position all alone.

Coming up in the AFC Denver hosts NY Jets looking to put themselves in position to win the conference while Indianapolis hosts LA Chargers trying to stay tied (they hold the hth tiebreaker). San Francisco heads to Dallas trying to get a better hold on the West division and Pittsburgh tries to lock down a playoff spot with a win at Carolina. Chicago is at Tampa Bay, Green Bay hosts Houston and Cleveland is in Buffalo as they all try to stay in that final playoff position. Tennessee hosts Minnesota and LA Rams head to Arizona.

Coming up in the NFC New England can clinch the #1 seed and a bye with a win at division rival Kansas City and NY Giants try to stay alive as they host their own division opponent in Jacksonville. New Orleans heads to Philadelphia hoping to stay on top of the West as Carolina hosts a scrappy Pittsburgh club and Arizona gets a visit from LA Rams. Atlanta hosts Seattle as they try and lock up the #4 spot while Houston visits Green Bay looking to do the same. Detroit is at Miami and Tampa Bay hosts Chicago looking for their second win.
