I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
So the regular season is on the books and congratulations are in order
for the 12 teams who have made the playoffs this years. Thanks to those
who did not for a very smooth season and hang in there as we finish up
some business before the end of the season.
We now move on to the playoffs and begin with the wild card
round. 2 games in each
conference with byes for the top two teams in each and we will aim to
have these games done by Monday, January 11.
New files are available for the playoffs, make sure you put them
in a separate folder from the regular season and that all games are
played through the playoff bracket so we don’t run into any issues.
As always home teams need to contact the visitors to set up as
soon as you can so we get the games done in a timely manner.
I will have Jeff find a sub for Carolina so that they are covered
for their game at Jacksonville.
I have made the appropriate rules changes to usage and overtime
for the playoffs so you should all be ready to play. Good luck to
everyone and have a Happy New Year!
With the regular season concluded we have finished up the first year of
the new subbing procedure with draft pick incentives and I wanted to say
it was a fairly positive experience with a few kinks to be worked out
before next season. We will
be taking a look at this and making a few small tweaks with an eye
towards using it next year but here are the results of the extra draft
picks that will be assigned for the upcoming draft (at the end of each
round). Overall we added just 12 picks to essentially the final 4 rounds
of the regular draft and they are spread out pretty well between all 4.
4th and 8th Round Picks – NYG, DET
5th Round Pick – NYJ, SEA
6th Round Pick – CHI, LAC
7th Round Pick – DEN, GB, NO
8th Round Pick - BUF
I am now accepting Ballot Proposals for this offseason, though we will
not vote on them until I fill the open team positions (so if you haven’t
told me you will be back or not yet, please do so asap).
See my email for the specifics but I would like to have all of
them in by Sunday, January 17th so I can make up a
preliminary ballot and then get that voted on by the end of the
playoffs.
Also it is time for awards voting as one of the last things I need from
each of you before the end of the season. I would really appreciate if
you could take the time and complete the survey based on this past
seasons results and statistics and once completed I will update the
website to show the winner of each award.
Voting will close on Sunday, January 31st at midnight.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for
an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury,
so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage,
especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games
they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League
In the AFC
Tennessee drops Minnesota to clinch the #1 overall seed and Houston
beats Cleveland and is #2.
Pittsburgh takes down San Francisco and is #3 while New England gets a
tight win over Indianapolis to finish #4 and clinch a home field game.
LA Chargers get a big win over Carolina and sit #5 and despite
shutting out the Jets Denver finishes in the #6 spot.
Buffalo falls to Jacksonville to come up just short of .500 and
Chicago wins big over Dallas for win #6.
In the NFC
New Orleans beats Kansas City to finish with the top seed and KC sits #2
heading into the playoffs.
NY Giants walk over Miami to clinch #3 while Jacksonville beats Buffalo
to finish #4 and get a home game.
Carolina falls to LA Chargers to finish in the #5 slot and
Seattle continues to slide against Atlanta to finish #6. Green Bay gets
to .500 with a win over Tampa Bay and Detroit downs Philadelphia for win
#6. LA Rams win their fifth
in a row over Arizona.
Coming up
this week in the AFC we have the Wild Card round with both Tennessee and
Houston having byes. In one
matchup we have a rematch of the Denver/Pittsburgh contest that went
down to the wire earlier in the season with the Steelers hold on for a
one touchdown win. In the
other matchup with have New England hosting the LA Chargers, two teams
with the same record who are meeting for the first time this season with
offenses that should provide plenty of firepower.
Coming up
this week in the NFC New Orleans and Kansas City both get the week off
from the Wild Card Round with byes after finishing at the top of the
conference. NY Giants as the
#3 seed host the Seattle Seahawks who they split the season series with
so the rematch will decide who moves on to the divisional round of
games. Jacksonville will
host Carolina in the other matchup with the Panthers already holding a
win over the Jags during the regular season, can they pull the upset
here and move on to round 2?
