I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Not a lot of suspense left after week 16 is in the books as all 6 playoff teams in each conference are set at this point.  There is still some seeding to be decided in week 17 as well as draft positioning for the non-playoff teams and then we will take a break for the holidays and come back for the playoffs in January.  Good luck to everyone in the final week of the regular season and to those who are done playing games, don’t disappear just yet as we will have some early offseason things to finish up before you go.  Files are updated on the website and ready to go for week 17.

With one week left in the season, all 6 playoff spots are clinched in each conference but there are only 3 actual playoff positions that are set right now as Pittsburgh will be the #3 seed in the AFC, NY Giants will be the #3 seed in the NFC and Seattle is the #6 seed in the NFC playoffs.  In the AFC Tennessee and Houston have clinched byes and are still in a fight for the top spot. If one team wins and one team loses, that will decide who is #1 and #2. If both teams win or lose, then Tennessee has the tiebreaker with the better conference record.  Denver, New England and LA Chargers all sit at 10-5, so it will come down to this final game and then likely a bunch of tiebreakers.  Denver has the easiest game with the NY Jets, while LA Chargers get Carolina and New England gets Indianapolis, so games each will have to work to get a win.

In the NFC KC and NO play head to head and will decide the conference title and #1 seed on the field.  NY Giants have clinched the #3 seed with a tiebreaker over Jacksonville and Seattle is the #6 seed no matter what happens.  Carolina visits the LA Chargers and Jacksonville is in Buffalo, if one team wins and one loses, then the winner is the #4 seed. If they end up tied, then Carolina will be the #4 seed as they beat Jacksonville head to head in week 9.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 11/20/20 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Houston beats Denver and Tennessee tops San Francisco and set up a week 17 that will decide the #1 overall seed.  Pittsburgh downs Green Bay to lock up the #3 seed and New England beats Buffalo to lock up a playoff spot.  LA Chargers shut out Cleveland to also lock up a playoff spot while Indianapolis has an awful day against the LA Rams to see their playoff aspirations go down the drain. Chicago shuts down the NY Jets and Dallas beats Minnesota to move out of the basement.

In the NFC New Orleans beats Carolina to take the West division title and Kansas City gets by Tampa Bay to set up a week 17 matchup for the conference title.  NY Giants beat Atlanta to lock up the East title and Jacksonville beats Seattle to stay ahead in the standings.  Arizona tops Philadelphia and Green Bay falls to Pittsburgh at home.  LA Rams crush the Colts and Detroit wins big over Miami.

Coming up this week in the AFC Tennessee hosts Minnesota and Houston visits Cleveland as they both try to take the #1 overall seed.  Pittsburgh finishes with a visit from San Francisco and Denver heads to NY Jets.  New England plays are Indianapolis and LA Chargers battle Carolina as the battle for AFC seeding will come down to those last 3 games.  Buffalo will try and spoil things for Jacksonville and Chicago tries for another win at Dallas.

Coming up this week in the NFC New Orleans and Kansas City battle head to head for the top spot in the conference and the NY Giants finish up with Miami.  Carolina heads to LA Chargers and Jacksonville is in Buffalo as they fight to see who will get home field in their first round matchup.  Seattle will tune up for their playoff game with the Giants by trying to beat Atlanta and Green Bay and Tampa Bay fight to see who can get to .500. Arizona tries to get even with a visit to the Rams and Detroit and Philadelphia battle for draft lottery position.
