I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it when we get all of the games in a day early, thanks to all for working on the contacts and getting those games done!  Good games and some ugly ones and the playoff picture is beginning to take shape.  Down to just 1 unbeaten as the Patriots continue to roll.  Atlanta gets their first win, so now Miami and Minnesota are fighting it out to avoid being the last team without a win.  Two weeks until the trade deadline and everything has been very quiet, will we see any movement this week or will it all come down to week 10?

I am still looking for potential owners right now if you know anyone who is interested in the league, we need owners for Cleveland, Detroit and NY Jets and would like to fill these spots as soon as possible. Walt Sienzant is going to cover the games for Detroit for this coming season and Ed Minshull is going to cover the games for NY Jets for now as well.  Please try and be as flexible as possible when scheduling games with these two guys as they are playing twice as many games as the rest of us.  Also, right now Bill Robison of St. Louis is MIA, if anyone has any contact from him, please let me know asap.  For now, try and contact him for games but go ahead with a sub if you don’t hear anything within 24 hours.

Game files are located on the website for week 9.  Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday of each week.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 8/9/18 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

This week in the AFC New England downs San Francisco to keep things perfect while Pittsburgh somehow keeps pace as they struggle to beat a QB-less Indianapolis team.  NY Jets win another division game over Denver and Houston just gets buy a tough Chicago team to stay a game behind.  Tennessee shuts out San Diego to stay at the top of the West and Dallas keeps pace as they don’t allow Minnesota to get their first win.  Buffalo beats Cleveland in the East to move out of the basement.

This week in the NFC New Orleans takes their first loss as Philadelphia cuts their lead to a single game in the West and Carolina tops Tampa Bay to stay in the divisional hunt as well.  NY Giants move to the top of the conference over winless Miami and Jacksonville keeps pace with them by just getting by Arizona.  St. Louis beats Detroit to take a 3 game lead in the Central as Kansas City falls to Green Bay and they both sit below .500.  Atlanta gets their first win of the season over Seattle to round out the slate.

Coming up in the AFC the game of the week will once again be the New England Patriot and Pittsburgh Steelers and hopefully the home team doesn’t forget to show up this time while Chicago hosts San Francisco.  NY Jets head to Dallas to try and stay on top of the East and Houston hopes for some help and a win over Indianapolis to catch them.  Tennessee will try and keep Minnesota on the losing streak and San Diego hosts Philadelphia in a tough test for the Chargers.  Cleveland travels to Seattle and Buffalo and Denver faceoff in the game to decide who falls to the basement of the East.

Coming up in the NFC NY Giants head to Detroit and Jacksonville is in Atlanta as the battle at the top the East continues to heat up.  New Orleans will try and get back on the winning track against Tampa Bay and Philadelphia heads to San Diego and hopes for a win and some help to get back to the top of the West.  St. Louis tries to put Kansas City away with a win over the Chiefs and Green Bay try and keep Miami winless and hope to stay alive for a wild card slot.  Carolina hosts Arizona as they try and hold on to the final playoff spot and Seattle hosts Cleveland.
