I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

A good week, everything in on time and a minimum of contact issues.  We still have 2 teams that don’t have a loss as New England and New Orleans both move to 7-0 on the season.  Miami, Minnesota and Atlanta all are still searching for win #1 and each has another tough test this week that may keep that donut going.  Just 3 weeks until the trade deadline, I expect we will see some movement this week as teams decide whether they are out of the race or building up to make a run.

I am still looking for potential owners right now if you know anyone who is interested in the league, we need owners for Cleveland, Detroit and NY Jets and would like to fill these spots as soon as possible. Walt Sienzant is going to cover the games for Detroit for this coming season and Ed Minshull is going to cover the games for NY Jets for now as well.  Please try and be as flexible as possible when scheduling games with these two guys as they are playing twice as many games as the rest of us.  Also, right now Bill Robison of St. Louis is MIA, if anyone has any contact from him, please let me know asap.  For now, try and contact him for games but go ahead with a sub if you don’t hear anything within 24 hours.

Game files are located on the website for week 8.  Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday of each week.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 8/9/18 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

This week in the AFC New England continues to roll on with an easy win over Miami but Pittsburgh keeps pace as they win big in Chicago.  NY Jets just get by Detroit to stay on top of the East while Houston beats Buffalo and Cleveland falls to Dallas and both teams are a game back.  Out West we have 3 teams at the top as Tennessee beats San Francisco, Dallas tops Cleveland and San Diego has climbed back in the race with a win over Indianapolis.  Denver falls to Jacksonville and Minnesota is stopped by New Orleans in their quest for their first win.

This week in the NFC New Orleans runs over Minnesota to stay unbeaten and Philadelphia takes down Arizona to stay within striking distance.  NY Giants continue their early success with a big win over Seattle and Jacksonville stays a game behind as they beat Denver.  St. Louis moves two games clear in the Central by beating Kansas City and Green Bay falls to Tampa in the battle of the Bays.  Carolina has their way with Atlanta to keep them winless and Detroit loses a close one to NY Jets.

Coming up in the AFC New England tries to get halfway to an undefeated season as they visit San Francisco and Pittsburgh will try and keep pace as they host Indianapolis.  NY Jets host Denver in the East while Cleveland hosts Buffalo and Houston has Chicago in town as the race in the East continues.  Tennessee and San Diego will battle for the top of the West and Dallas will try and keep Minnesota from their first win.

Coming up in the NFC New Orleans goes for 8-0 and tries to put Philadelphia away as they visit the Eagles and Carolina heads to Tampa Bay as they try and stay in the playoff hunt.  NY Giants will try and keep Miami winless as they attempt to hold off Jacksonville who is off to Arizona.  St. Louis hosts Detroit as they try and extend their Central lead while Kansas City tries to salvage things in a visit to Green Bay.  Seattle tries for .500 while Atlanta looks for their first win of the season.
