I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Final game of the season coming up and a LOT of playoff implications left so I really need you all to step up and play your game hth so that we get the best results possible in making playoff decisions.  It is time to start looking for owners for next year and we have at least 4 of 5 open teams, so if you know of anyone looking for a team, start sending them my way and that will solve a lot of our issues with hth scheduling as we will need a lot fewer subs.

Final game of the season for everyone, some playoff positioning is set, others are very up in the air still with this weeks results being the deciding factor.  In the NFC the Giants are the #1 seed and locked into a bye and home field throughout.  Carolina needs a win or Saints loss to lock in the #2 seed and St. Louis is the #3 seed.  New Orleans is the #4 seed and get a first round home game at least and can still win the division with a win and Panthers loss while Jacksonville and Philadelphia will go to the final week fighting it out to see who is #5 and #6. Philly has the tougher opponent in Carolina, but the Panthers have nothing to gain so may be resting players this week while Jacksonville plays NY Jets who have a lot to play for and will provide tough opposition. Green Bay was eliminated with a loss this week.  In the AFC New England is the #1 seed with home field throughout, Dallas is currently the #2 seed and Houston is #3 seed with a chance to move up with a win and Dallas loss.  After that we have 4 teams tied at 9-6 who will now fight it out to get in the playoffs and also for positions 4 thru 6 and a possible first round home game.  The scenarios are numerous right now, but Pittsburgh and Tennessee can lock up the playoffs if they win.  NY Jets and Denver have the toughest road as they sit in the same division and in any tie involving their teams one of them will lose the tiebreaker and be out.  I will send updates as games come in and seeding starts to clear up.

I am still looking for potential owners right now if you know anyone who is interested in the league, we need owners for Cleveland, Detroit, St. Louis and NY Jets and would like to fill these spots as soon as possible. Walt Sienzant is going to cover the games for Detroit for this coming season and Ed Minshull is going to cover the games for NY Jets for now as well.  Please try and be as flexible as possible when scheduling games with these two guys as they are playing twice as many games as the rest of us.  If anyone is willing to step in for Cleveland or St. Louis this week that would be great.

Game files are located on the website for week 17.  Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday of each week.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 10/16/18 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

This week in the AFC New England wins over Minnesota and are revving up for the playoffs while Pittsburgh falls again, this time to San Francisco in a nightmare of a game.  Dallas takes down Arizona to lock up the West and Tennessee falls to San Diego and need a win to get in the playoffs.  Houston ??? while Denver beat NY Jets and they sit tied for the final playoff spot with a lot left to play for.  Indianapolis wins again over Chicago and .500 looks real for them now and Buffalo beats Seattle for their 6th win of the season.

This week in the NFC NY Giants just roll on and top Jacksonville to become the top team in the conference while Carolina beats Miami but still need a win this week as New Orleans keeps pace by taking down St. Louis.  Green Bay loses to Kansas City and fall out of the playoffs while Philadelphia loses to Tampa Bay but clinch a playoff spot anyway with the Packers loss.  Atlanta downs Detroit and Arizona falls to Dallas.

Coming up in the AFC New England finishes up with Houston and can hurt their chances for the division tile while Pittsburgh needs a win over Kansas City or likely fall out of the playoffs.  Dallas can knock the Titans out of the playoffs with a win and NY Jets play Jacksonville while Denver plays Cleveland and both teams need wins and possibly help to get in the playoffs. Indianapolis finishes up in San Francisco and San Diego hosts Minnesota.  Buffalo travels to Detroit and Chicago closes out the season in St. Louis.

Coming up in the NFC NY Giants looking for a 15th win against Tampa Bay and Jacksonville travels to the NY Jets looking to solidify their playoff spot.  Carolina hosts Philadelphia as they try and win the division and New Orleans heads to Seattle with hopes of still winning the division.  St. Louis hosts Chicago and Green Bay gets a visit from Atlanta.  Detroit has Buffalo in town and Arizona will try and send Miami to another 0-16 season.  Kansas City heads to Pittsburgh to try and knock them from the playoffs.
