I. MESSAGE
FROM THE COMMISSIONER
Instead of
giving us a clear winner week 17 just made a big mess and we had to get deep
into the tiebreakers to figure it all out. The AFC West was the biggest mess and
somehow despite an 0-3 start to the season the Tennessee Titans beat San
Francisco and get a Dallas loss and take the division title and a home field
game in round 1. Unfortunately this
loss was devastating for a San Francisco team that led the division most of the
season as they first lose a tiebreaker with Dallas to drop from the 5th
seed and then again New England holds a better conference record to move into
the 6th seed and final AFC playoff slot. In the NFC it was a bit
clearer and Kansas City wins and takes the Central title to remove any mystery
there while Jacksonville loses not only does it cost them the East division but
pushes them all the way down to the 6th seed in the playoffs.
Overall it was a close finish to the season with a LOT of teams involved
much later this season than we normally have seen in the past.
Playoffs
are set and some interesting matchups in round 1.
In the AFC Indianapolis takes the top spot and Houston gets the other
bye, while Tennessee wins their division to take the #3 seed and a first round
matchup with New England while NY Jets are the #4 seed and host Dallas.
In the NFC Carolina moves into the #1 overall seed while Detroit somehow
moves from 6th to #2 and a bye in round 1.
Kansas City survives the Central and gets a #3 seed and home field
against Jacksonville while New Orleans gets a tough matchup with Philadelphia in
the other wild card game. Files will
be up for the playoffs soon and I will let you know when asap.
I am looking
for potential owners right now if you know anyone who is interested in the
league, I need an owner in Dallas and would like some names to get ready in case
we have more openings after the season.
Game files are located on the website for the final regular season files.
Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should
make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday
of each week.
I can’t
stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the
game is complete. Send your write up
later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends
or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the
deadline.
***There is a new game update available on the website, dated
10/31/17 ***
Don’t forget,
if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement,
but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those
requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already
challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that
you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.
The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long
as it does get done. Also, you MUST
send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that
file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a
game has happened or not.

II. News from
Around the League
In the AFC
Indianapolis closes out the top seed with a win over Dallas while Houston
stumbles in New York and drops to #2 while the Jets wrap up the #4 seed.
Tennessee pulls off the total season comeback with a win over San
Francisco and combined with a loss by Dallas to Indy they win the West and the
#3 seed with Dallas falling to #6.
New England beats Chicago and with that take the #5 seed and push San Francisco
out of the playoffs. Ittsburgh beats
Tampa Bay and Cleveland finishes strong over Miami. Denver tops San Diego and
Minnesota falls to Seattle. Buffalo
loses a close one to Kansas City.
In the NFC Carolina keeps rolling with
a big win over Philadelphia to take the top spot while the Eagles fall to #5 and
New Orleans beats Arizona to wrap up the #4 seed.
Detroit wins big over the NY Giants and Jacksonville is upset by Atlanta
so the Lions are the #2 seed while Jacksonville falls all the way to #6. Kansas
City squeaks by Buffalo to win the Central outright and the #3 seed while St.
Louis routs Green Bay but comes up just short on the playoffs.
Seattle beats Minnesota and Tampa Bay falls in Pittsburgh.
Miami finishes with a tough loss to Cleveland.
Coming up in the
AFC the Wild Card round is set and with both Indianapolis and Houston holding on
to the top spots and a bye.
Tennessee Titans host the New England Patriots and the NY Jets host the Dallas
Cowboys in a pair of matchups that should very competitive games.
At the other end of the line the San Diego Chargers look to have the #2
spot in the lottery wrapped up with Minnesota and Buffalo tied for the #4 spot.
Coming up in the NFC the Wild Card match ups include
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles at the New
Orleans Saints. These games may not
be as close but you never know who will rise up with the playoffs begin.
Carolina and Detroit both get byes in round 1 and wait to see who their
opponents will be. The NY Giants
have the #1 slot in the draft lottery while Miami is in the #3 slot but the luck
of the draw can mean anything so who knows where everyone will end up.
