I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

The playoffs are here and we start off with the Wildcard Round.  Look below for some information on the matchups, but the files are located on the main page of the website and you can get started setting games up with them due on 1/11/16.  Good luck to all in your quest for the Super Bowl.  Please keep in touch as we will do some talking about awards here shortly and I hope to post some information this week.  Game files are located on the website for the end of the regular season.  Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday of each week.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 08/14/15 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Tennessee closes out the season at 15-1 with a win at San Diego who is eliminated from the playoffs.  Denver beats Houston but New England wins  over Chicago and clinches the second bye despite both teams 12-4 records.  Cleveland loses to the NY Giants while Indianapolis beats Jacksonville and Dallas takes down San Francisco, but the Browns finish with the best conference record and earn a home game in round 1, while Indy is just a game better in the conference over Dallas for the 5th spot and the AFC playoffs are set.  Pittsburgh beats Buffalo for their 4th win of the season while NY Jets get a win against Philadelphia and Minnesota loses a tight one to Arizona.

In the NFC Detroit finishes their perfect season with a win over Atlanta which knocks the Falcons from the playoffs.  New Orleans has the other bye and puts the exclamation point on their 14-2 season over Tampa Bay.  St. Louis beats Green Bay to take the Central division outright and Arizona locks up the 4th seed as they squeak by Minnesota.  Seattle beats Carolina for the 5th seed and Philadelphia loses to the NY Jets but still owns the tiebreaker over Atlanta for the final spot.  Kansas City beats Miami and NY Giants win big over Cleveland.  Jacksonville falls to Indianapolis to finish with just 2 wins.

Coming up in the AFC we have the Wildcard Round of the playoffs with a couple of interesting matchups which should both be very competitive.  First up we have the Denver Broncos, the winners of the AFC east hosting the Dallas Cowboys the final team into the playoffs but far from an easy out for the home team.  The two teams did not meet in the regular season but combined for 23 wins between them with Denver putting up a ton of points and Dallas playing some very good defense, so we will see who’s strength wins out in this one.  The other matchups pits a pair of 11-5 clubs as the Cleveland Browns host the Indianapolis Colts with Cleveland holding a regular season win, 17-14, over the Colts.  This one is a matchup of two potent offenses with the Browns holding the slight edge on defense and we will see if the Browns can complete the sweep or the Colts can get some revenge and move on.  The Tennessee Titans and the New England Patriots both have the bye and will wait to see who they get to match up with in the next round.

Coming up in the NFC the Central Division winning St. Louis Rams will host the Philadelphia Eagles.  Both teams end up at 9-7 on the season, but take very different routes to get there as Philadelphia starts out at 5-0 on the but then stumbles to a 9-7 final record and need an Atlanta loss in week 17 to get into the playoffs.  Meanwhile the Rams start out 2-5 but then win 7 of their last 9 including a win over Philadelphia in week 15 and they take the division title in the final two weeks with division wins over Kansas City and Green Bay.  The other matchup has Seattle heading to Arizona in a matchup of teams that can put up some points, but Seattle struggled to keep opponents off the board and the Cards will try to make them pay for that deficiency.
