I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

The AFC is still a huge mess for the final playoff spot as someone is going to get it with a losing record and there are at least 6 teams mathematically alive for the spot. The NFC has 4 spots clinched now as KC joins the party and we are down to three teams for two spots with ATL/SEA going head to head. Be sure if you have trouble hooking up that you get a plan in place and contact me for a sub if needed.  Final week of the season!  Thanks for the great work guys!  I have updated files on the website for week 17, go ahead and get those and start making your game contacts for the week, with home team making contact by Tuesday and the games hopefully being set up by Wednesday.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 10/10/14 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC, San Diego gets the win over Cleveland and despite a Dallas win over Minnesota the Chargers lock up the West and Dallas is set at the #4 seed and a home game in round 1.  Indianapolis wins over St. Louis to stay with the Chargers at the top of the conference and Denver beats Houston and locks into the #3 slot and a Wild Card home game.  Tennessee makes a huge comeback against San Francisco and are locked into the #5 seed and Pittsburgh upsets Green Bay to stay alive in the playoff race.  Buffalo falls to New England and NY Jets beat Chicago as both teams stay within a game of Cleveland.

In the NFC, Philadelphia wins over Arizona and New Orleans does the same with Carolina and they go to week 17 tied for the West lead.  Kansas City wraps up the Central with a win over Tampa Bay and Detroit keeps pace for the top spot in the conference with a win at Miami.  Jacksonville gets by Seattle in a high scoring affair and Atlanta falls to NY Giants and all 3 are tied for the final 2 playoff slots. Green Bay gets upset by the Steelers to fall out of the playoff race and St. Louis loses to Indianapolis.

Week 17 in the AFC San Diego hosts Carolina and Indianapolis has New England in town in the fight for the top slot in the AFC.  Denver heads to NY Jets looking to end their playoff chances and Dallas hosts Chicago as they tune up for the playoffs.  Tennessee has Minnesota coming to town and Cleveland can wrap up the #6 seed with a win over Houston.  Buffalo will try and ruin Jacksonville’s playoff dreams and Pittsburgh will try and sneak into the playoffs with a win over San Francisco.

Week 17 in the NFC Philadelphia has a tough game in Detroit while New Orleans also has a good contest with Kansas City as the top 4 teams in the conference go hth looking for playoff seeding.  Atlanta is in Seattle with the loser possibly out of the playoffs if Jacksonville can win their game in Buffalo.  Green Bay looks for win #9 at Tampa Bay and St. Louis hosts Arizona.  Ny Giants and Miami close out the schedule in a game with draft lottery implications.

The playoff races in the AFC are almost done.  San Diego will clinch the #1 seed with a win as they hold the tiebreakers over Indianapolis who must win and get a Chargers loss to take the top spot.  Denver is locked in at #3, Dallas is the same at #4 and Tennessee is the #5 seed heading to Dallas in round 1.  Cleveland can clinch the #6 seed with a win over Houston. If they lose, Houston would move ahead of them with 2 hth wins and then if Buffalo, Pittsburgh and NY Jets win they could all be in the mix as well.  Too many options to break them all down, but if someone wants to do it, feel free and I will post it :O)

The NFC If Detroit and KC win, then Detroit would be the #1 seed and the West would come down to the 5th tiebreaker which could still change depending on these final games.  Philly wins and New Orleans loses, then Philly is the #1 seed and Detroit falls to #2.  If New Orleans wins and Philly loses, then New Orleans would be the #1 seed and Detroit #2 as the Saints won hth.  Kansas City is the #3 seed and the loser of the West is the #4 seed.  If Jacksonville wins then the winner of Seattle/Atlanta also gets in and the loser is out.  If Jacksonville loses, then the winner of Seattle/Atlanta is the #5 seed and then Jacksonville would be in if Atlanta loses or they would go deep into the tiebreakers with Seattle and I believe would win the common opponent record to get the #6 seed so looks like they are in no matter what.  Green Bay joins the ranks of those who are out after being upset by Pittsburgh.
