I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

The bye week is upon us and the playoff races are in full swing at this point with just 3 games left to play after the holiday.  Everyone feel free to enjoy the holiday and get back to football this weekend if you want, but the files are there if you want to get your game in early.  Good luck to those still in the playoff hunt (not many) and also to those fighting it out for lottery positioning.

Just 3 weeks left in the regular season and things appear to be rounding out in the playoff races with not a lot of mystery left, but here is a quick rundown of where things are. In the AFC, Tennessee has won their division and Houston needs a win or Denver loss the rest of the way to lock up the East with both looking like they will own the bye with Pittsburgh 2 games back.  The Steelers lead the Central by a game, but also hold the tiebreaker on the Patriots, so really just need a win and a NE loss to lock it up.  Patriots are tied with Denver for the 4th seed, but hold the tiebreaker and LA Chargers sit a game back in 6th place, but have a game lead on Indianapolis, but the Colts do hold the tiebreaker.  Buffalo is the only other team with any playoff hopes, but would need to get past Indy AND catch LA Chargers.  In the NFC, Kansas City has won the Central and look to have a bye while New Orleans leads the West by 2 games and a win over Carolina or another win and Carolina loss wraps up the division and likely the second bye.  Jacksonville leads the tight East but with a pair of losses to NY Giants as well as tough games with Seattle and Houston left could drop all the way to the 6th seed if things don’t go their way.  Seattle needs win over the Jags and some help to move up and NY Giants have to get by New Orleans to get the division win.  Carolina sits in the 4th seed right now, but again could drop as far as 6th though they have locked up a playoff spot. Tampa Bay is alive but will need to catch one of the teams in the East while Green Bay has the slimmest of chances but with games left against KC, Pittsburgh and TB they are likely heading to the golf course.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 11/20/20 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Houston gets an easy win over NY Jets and Denver tops Atlanta to stay alive in the division hunt.  Tennessee gets a big win over LA Chargers to take the West division title and San Francisco falls to Minnesota the bottom of the division. Pittsburgh beats an undermanned Indianapolis club and New England is upset by LA Rams to put the Steelers on the verge of winning the Central.  Buffalo wins big over Cleveland and Chicago loses an OT thriller at Kansas City.  Dallas falls to New Orleans to stay at the bottom of the conference.

In the NFC Kansas City gets and OT win over Chicago and Green bay tops Miami to stay alive in the playoff race.  Jacksonville just sneaks by Detroit to stay on top in the East as Seattle falls to NY Giants and all three are still fighting for the division top spot.  New Orleans beats up Dallas and Carolina tops Arizona to stay within 2 games of the West. Tampa Bay beats Philadelphia to stay within 2 games of the playoffs and LA Rams upset the NE Patriots.  Atlanta falls to Denver.

Coming up this week in the AFC Tennessee hosts New England who needs the win to stay in the Central race and LA Chargers host Dallas as they try and lock up the final playoff position.  Pittsburgh hosts Chicago and with a win and NE loss can lock up the Central and Indianapolis hosts Miami as they try and catch the Chargers.  Houston travels to Jacksonville and lock up the East with a win or a Denver loss to Minnesota.  Buffalo hosts NY Jets and try and keep their fleeting playoff hopes alive while San Francisco hosts Philadelphia.  Cleveland heads to Detroit in a matchup of 3 win teams in the final game of the week.

Coming up this week in the NFC Jacksonville hosts Houston needing the win to stay on top of the East while NY Giants have an equally tough game with New Orleans.  Seattle heads to Carolina in a matchup of potential playoff opponents and Tampa Bay hosts Arizona to try and play catchup in the wildcard race.  Kansas City will try and finish Green Bays playoff hopes and Miami heads to Indianapolis.  Philadelphia travels to San Francisco and LA Rams and Atlanta fight to stay out of the NFC basement.  Detroit looks for win #4 over Cleveland.
