I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

So we are past the holiday and the bye week and now we have just 3 games left before the playoffs. As I stated last week, please, no matter your team’s situation I need you to stay on top of game contacts and play your games head to head.  That is what this league is and what we all signed up for and it isn’t fair to the teams who have played all of their games this way if some teams are choosing not to make the effort to do their part. There are too many teams who have had games simmed this year, though to be fair a lot of that has to do with league owned teams which will hopefully be less of an issue next year.  It is time to start looking for owners for next year, so if you know of anyone looking for a team, start sending them my way and that will solve a lot of our issues with hth scheduling.

With only 3 games left to play, the playoffs are almost all set for the teams if not for the seedings.  In the NFC NY Giants are the top team and can clinch the #1 overall spot and home field throughout the playoffs with a win and Carolina loss.  Carolina sits in the #2 slot right now for the second bye and St. Louis has clinched the Central and no worse than #3 and a home game in round 1.  New Orleans and Jacksonville sit tied for 4th and Philly is a half game back in 6th with a 2 ½ game lead on Green Bay who can be knocked from playoff contention if they lose or the other 3 teams win. Everyone else is done at this point in the NFC so just seeding to work on. In the AFC New England has clinched the conference and the top seed throughout the playoffs.  Dallas is now sitting in the second slot with a 1 game lead on Houston and NY Jets who are tied in the East and Tennessee who is chasing them out West.  Denver still holds the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh for the final playoff slot and then we have 4 other teams sitting 3 games back who are technically alive but realistically it is just down to 7 teams.  Miami still searches for a win while Minnesota has pulled off the upset to get their first win of the season and avoid the goose egg.

I am still looking for potential owners right now if you know anyone who is interested in the league, we need owners for Cleveland, Detroit and NY Jets and would like to fill these spots as soon as possible. Walt Sienzant is going to cover the games for Detroit for this coming season and Ed Minshull is going to cover the games for NY Jets for now as well.  Please try and be as flexible as possible when scheduling games with these two guys as they are playing twice as many games as the rest of us.  If anyone is interested in running St. Louis for the rest of the season, I would appreciate the help (may be of interest to teams already out of the playoffs as the Rams appear to be getting an invite). Also, Philadelphia needs a sub to cover their game this week if anyone is available to stand in for them.

Game files are located on the website for week 13.  Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday of each week.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 10/16/18 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

This week in the AFC New England just rolls on with a 38-0 shutout of the Bears and Pittsburgh tops Green Bay to keep their playoff hopes alive.  Dallas beats San Francisco and Tennessee keeps pace with a  big win over Buffalo.  Houston beats NY Jets head to head and they sit tied at the top of the East while Denver takes down Atlanta to stay in the last playoff spot.  Cleveland falls to Detroit and San Diego does the same in Carolina.  Indianapolis keeps Miami winless while Minnesota finds their first win of the season over Philadelphia.

This week in the NFC NY Giants take down a tough test in St. Louis and Jacksonville falls to Seattle to give the Giants a 3 games lead and the East Division title.  Carolina continues to win as they stay on top of the West with a win over San Diego and New Orleans keeps pace by downing Arizona.  Philadelphia continues to stumble as they give Minnesota their first win and Green Bay is on life support for the playoffs as they fall to Pittsburgh.  Detroit beats Cleveland and Kansas City tops Tampa Bay.  Atlanta falls to Denver and Miami stays winless against Indianapolis.

Coming up in the AFC New England has locked up the top spot and will try for their 14th straight win against Indianapolis while Pittsburgh looks to stay at least tied for 6th as they head to St. Louis.  Dallas visits San Diego and Tennessee hosts a streaking Carolina team as they try and keep pace with the Cowboys.  Houston hosts Denver and  NY Jets have Buffalo in town as all three teams fight for the top of the East.  Cleveland tries to avoid the upset in Minnesota and Chicago looks for a win over Kansas City.  San Francisco has the tough task of stopping the Giants.

Coming up in the NFC NY Giants look to clinch the top of the conference with a win over the Niners and Jacksonville tries to solidify their playoff position with a win over Green Bay.  Carolina heads for a tough test in Tennessee and New Orleans hosts Philadelphia as again we have three teams in the West fighting to stay tight for that top spot and a home game in round 1.  Detroit hosts Seattle and Kansas City travels to Chicago.  Arizona and Tampa Bay fight to stay out of the bottom of the West and Atlanta tries to keep Miami winless in game 14.
