I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Congratulations to both Dallas and St. Louis on great years, you guys had great seasons and have nothing to be ashamed of as this year we may have our best two Super Bowl participants ever.  No upsets this year, nothing surprising, the two best teams all year with one loss between them set Super Bowl XIV as one loss New Orleans will face the undefeated NY Jets for the big prize.

Ballot voting is open and all votes must be in by Sunday, January 30th at midnight eastern time. Any questions, let me know, here is the link in case you missed the email. http://www.kwiksurveys.com?s=IKJJLF_fc61c7bc

I can’t stress enough that need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  This is the second straight week that a host had something come up and forget to send me an export.  It takes about 30 seconds following your game to export it and send it to me.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things.

A new game update is available dated 12/14, please get it from the ISFL website before you play any games this week.

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC, the New York Jets dominance continues as they give the Cowboys fits all day long and keep them at arms length to head to their second straight Super Bowl and look to become only the second back to back winner in ISFL history.

In the NFC, it was a close one at halftime, with the Saints up 16-7 and they scored in the third to put some space between them and the Rams who score late but miss the 2 point try and then they get one more chance, but can’t get a first down and the Saints are on their way to the big game for the first time.

The big game is a matchup of the defending champion Jets who have one the big game twice and are making their 4th appearance in 14 seasons versus the Saints who are making their first trip to the big game.  Big name QBs, Favre vs. Romo, will go at it and while they can both be VERY good, they also can make the big mistake, so which QB will show up?  Also a matchup of RBs that are a contrast as the big, bruising back in Turner for the Jets will try and offset the home run ability of Jamal Charles with the Saints.  Both teams have good defenses, but the Jets have more of the big names which is the same on the offensive line, so in this way, they get the edge. If I had to set a line right now, we’d be looking at a 9 point edge for the Jets who no one has even figured out the question yet, much less the answer.
