MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

The trade deadline has passed with 12 deals this block alone, the busiest deadline in years and even a few decent size ones as some teams were really sellers and a few went all in to make a go of it. Just 6 weeks left in the regular season, so the playoff races will be heating up, at least in the Prince of Wales conference. Right now St. Louis, Arizona and NY Rangers all have sizable leads over the pack and then only Washington is really out of it at this point. From Philly who is 4th in the conference at 64 points to New Jersey who is 11th at 55 points, just 9 points difference so could be any combination of teams still in the playoffs over there. The Campbell Conference is just the opposite as the top 8 teams are pretty clear with Edmonton in 8th place 16 points ahead of Dallas in 9th as the fight with Toronto, LA and Calgary for the 2nd spot in the lottery (yeah, Washington is that far back of everyone). So, this block could see changes in the POW while the Cambell conference likely will see teams clinching playoff spots by the end of block 8.

Block 8 is ready to go and the updated league file and Excel file is on the website.  Remember that all injuries this year are coaches decisions BUT all players are limited to the exact number of NHL games from last year, so plan accordingly.  If you are sending the same lineup for all 8 games then just a regular coach should work. If you want to set specific lineups for each game, then you need to use the Daily Lineups as it gives you a lot more flexibility. As soon as you have your coach set for your first 4 road games, please send that out to the list (and list who the coach is for so it is easier for teams to keep the ones they need).  Also, I would ask you PLEASE include your 4 home strats as well both for your sake and mine as if I have to sim your home games for any reason I will just let the game set up your strat if none is defined and you will have to deal with any penalties later on.  I am going to continue using the strat file page and upload everyones coaches to the website like I did in the past so they are easy to find when needed.

**** IMPORTANT  - Action PC Game File Update dated 10/16/2024.

You need to send out game exports as well as boxscores for all 4 home games by the second Sunday of the block at 9 pm This is MANDATORY, both the exports AND boxscores please.   Game summaries are nice, even if it’s just one quick comment for all 4 games, just adds to the league and makes it easier for everyone to see what is going on.  If I do not receive game exports after sending updates on Saturday and Sunday, I will send one more request directly about an hour before the deadline on Sunday.  Unless I get a request for an extension of time, I will wait til the deadline and about 30 minutes later I will sim games so I can get new files out before I go to bed Sunday night.
