MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
No
real upsets in round 1 as the only lower seed, Carolina, was pretty
evenly matched with the NY Giants. So should be 4 pretty solid games in
round 2 as we have 8 of the top 9 team still alive in the playoffs. I
have sent out some info on Ballots, Awards and a feeler on who might be
calling it a career after this season. Keep in mind, this is a hth
regardless of how good your team is, if you can’t commit to playing your
games hth, then we may not be for you. This goes for new owners as well
as team who decided to tear it down and rebuild, you still need to be
playing your games every week no matter how bad your team may be. Good
luck to all in round 2 and for the rest, hang in there while we work on
the final portion of the season for those no longer playing.

Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget
to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up
smoothly. Let’s see if we
can hit the first week deadline with all games played head to head and
as always if you need help let us know.
If you need a sub, feel free to find your own sub or contact me
asap so we can try and get you hooked up with someone to get your game
in. Make sure you have the
latest action update which is available on the website.
Game files are up for the start of the regular season, so make
sure you go download them and start making contact for round 1 games. If
you have any questions, now is the time, so please ask before we get too
far into things.
I
can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

News from Around the League
In the AFC, Pittsburgh has a huge game against LA Chargers and pulls
away early for a 40-10 win behind a big game from Love, McBride and
Jacobs. Denver wins a dog fight with Dallas, 27-24, and keeps alive
their chances for the three peat, we will see how that goes in round 2.
In the surprise game of round 1, LA Rams pull away quickly and never
give Green Bay a chance as the Packers must have used up all of their
luck just getting to their playoff seeding.
In the NFC, New Orleans wins a game that Kanas City keeps close for a
half, but the Saints pull away in the second half to the 30-16 win.
Saquon Barkley has a huge game for the Jags and along with a couple of
INTs from the defense leads them to a 26-13 win over Arizona who put up
a fight but couldn’t hang with the home team. In the only upset of round
1, Carolina gets 3 second half INTs from the defense which keeps the
Giants from any kind of a comeback and the Panthers win 30-17 to move
on.
Coming up in the AFC, Tennessee with host LA Rams in a rematch of week
16 win for the Titans. It is hard to beat a team twice in a season and
the Rams offense was on fire in round 1 while the Titans were resting
and hope they can turn that into a win in round 2. Tennessee will be
playing without Nico Collins, which may slow their offense down, but
they have a strong defense which is going to have to step up and stop
the Rams offense if they want a repeat performance. Pittsburgh will host
Denver in a matchup of teams that did not face off in the regular
season. Denver has had the Steeler’s number for a few years, but home
field will hopefully help to even things out. Steelers offense was
second in the league during the regular season while Denver’s defense
was sixth best in the league and this is the matchup that may decide the
game. On the other side, Denver’s offense was 14th in the
league and the Steeler’s defense was also 14th, so should be
a pretty even match, meaning someone is going to have to step up and
turnovers may well be the deciding factor which leans slightly to the
Broncos. Again, home field will have to matter for the higher seed to
advance this time.
Coming up in the NFC, New England will host Carolina and on the face of
it, this should not be a close game as the Patriots offense is a
juggernaut. Panthers just got blown out in week 17 of the regular
season, but weather or luck could give Carolina a small chance. I
believe this is going to be a big win for the home team due to that
Patriots offense, but me picking your team is usually the kiss of death,
so hey, the visitors may still have a shot. While the first game appears
to be a tough one, the second game of New Orleans and Jacksonville looks
like it might be the best game of the round. They didn’t meet in the
regular season but statistically they are pretty even and this might
come down to who gets better QB play, whether it be Wilsom from the
Saints or Geno Smith for the Jags. In the end, I think home field for
the Saints will likely be the difference in a close, hard fought game
that likely will be decided in the final 5 minutes of the game.
