I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

So, we are back on track and rolling towards the Super Bowl now with all of the Wild Card round finished and not much in the way of surprises for the results though how we go there in some cases were interesting. Whenever all 4 games get done, I will do my best to get the next round rolling shortly after, but definitely should be able to be done on schedule so we finish up before the NFL Super Bowl. Thanks to everyone who has responded to me so far about returning, glad to see so many still interested, but I need to hear from the final few please before we start voting on the ballot. Speaking of which, nice to see healthy discussions, but please, keep them that way as things can easily stray off course and no personal attacks will be tolerated :O) I am listening to all even if I don’t always respond as I don’t like to sway things one way or another until I can see all the information and decide what I think is going to help us best. I agree with some that we have been around for 25 years and don’t need a lot of changes, but that said, I also agree with others that there may be some smaller things we need to look at to make us even better. The one thing I ask, is that when you are discussing these rules, leave how it will affect your team a the bottom of your list of pros/cons. How a rule change affects the majority of the league is what is the most important thing when having these discussions and votes, so sometimes we have to vote for something we may not love right now, but in the long run will make the whole 28 team league better.

I have sent out the yearly ballot prop email, see that for information on any rule changes you think we need to entertain.

Awards voting is underway and can be found here - https://shout.com/s/gMYT6J0x

The draft lottery order is set at this point, and we will do that once we get closer to the Super Bowl. Here is the order pre-lottery:

1  Miami

2  Indianapolis

3  Tampa Bay

4  Jacksonville

5  Detroit
6  LA Rams
7  Houston
8  Atlanta

9  Seattle
10 NY Jets

11 Dallas

12 Chicago

13 Cleveland

14 LA Chargers

Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up smoothly. If you need a sub, feel free to find your own sub or contact me asap so we can try and get you hooked up with someone to get your game in.  Make sure you have the latest action update which is available on the website.  Game files are up for Wild Card Weekend, so make sure you go download them and start making contact for the wild card games. If you have any questions, now is the time, so please ask before we get too far into things.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 11/2/24 ***

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Denver had the week off, but we still saw some fireworks in other games. San Francisco took their rubber match with Tennessee by playing some great defense, holding the Titans to 10 points, and relying on Hopkins foot and TJ Watts interception for all of their scoring, possibly the only team to ever win a playoff game without an offensive TD. Pittsburgh and Minnesota play what can only be called an “interesting” game, as the Steelers come in with only their third string RB and half of their defensive line out, but still find a way to slow down the Vikings offense enough to give them a chance late, which came in the way of a 98 yard kick return TD from Mims for the win. The best game of the round was the Bills/Packers matchup of two pretty evenly matched teams and they didn’t disappoint as this one went back and forth the whole way with a Aaron Jones 3rd quarter run the difference and Buffalo is the only lower seed to advance in this round.

In the NFC New England earned the bye by beating the Giants in round 1. The Giants took that out on the poor, defenseless Eagles, as they run out to a 34-0 lead by halftime and 37-0 in the fourth quarter before Dalton hits Hill for a TD and 2 point conversion buy Philly goes down with just a whimper. The best NFC matchup was the Saints/Panthers and Carolina gets out to a 21-14 lead with under 3 minutes to play, but the Saints tie it up late on a Charbonnet run and in OT Carolina goes 3 and out and Tucker wins it with a FG to send New Orleans on to NY next week. Arizona has a rough one without any good QB play, managing just 6 points on FGs while Kansas City gets a couple of big TD passes from Kyler to DJ Moore and win this one going away to win the big prize of facing off with the Patriots defense.

Coming up in the AFC Denver hosts Buffalo, one of the few teams to beat them in the regular season, and I expect that this will come down to which QB plays better between Tua and Baker and then which defense can shut down the other teams running game. Odds go to Denver on this one, but I believe it will be a closer game than some may think in the end and Buffalo will push them to their limit even if they take the loss. The other game is a rematch from just a few weeks ago as San Francisco just got by Pittsburgh in week 17. Again, this will come down to Mahomes as he has no running game at all due to injuries and a Steelers team who is much less decimated than they were in that game on defense and with the return of Zach Moss will have a running game to try and keep Patrick off the field. This one is a pick ‘em game with neither team being a surprise if they get the win.

Coming up in the NFC the Patriots get the week off, but have no injury concerns and come in with the best defense in the ISFL and will look to put a stranglehold on Kyler and the Chiefs offense. With NE also having a good offense, the Chiefs are going to need to play the game of their season on both sides of the ball and I just am not sure they have enough to slow down this juggernaut. The other game will be a matchup of the Giants who just ran through teams all season long and are very good on both sides of the ball and the Saints who also have a good offense that relies on Russell Wilson who will need to ball out as the New Orleans defense is not on the same level as their opponent and may struggle to slow the NY club down.
