I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Wild Card Round is in the books with the NFC going exactly as planned with the top 4 seeds all still alive and a couple of very opposite matchups to come, one shoot out and one defensive struggle, if the numbers bear out. In the AFC, a pair of upset last minute wins leave the Jets and Chargers facing off against the top 2 seeds in what may be challenging game, but they will look to pull off another upset and maybe make for an interesting Championship game. Two teams with the bye got their extra week of rest and I have all of the injury moves made, so should be ready to go. Please get going on contacts asap for these games and good luck to all!

Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up smoothly.  Let’s see if we can hit the first week deadline with all games played head-to-head and as always if you need help let us know.  If you need a sub, please contact Jeff Shelton asap so he can try and get you hooked up with someone to get your game in.  Make sure you have the latest action update which is available on the website.  Updated game files are up, so make sure you go download them and start making contact for playoff games. If you have any questions, now is the time, so please ask before we get too far into things.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 11/6/23 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Indianapolis gets by Cleveland late on a fumble recovery TD after Cleveland had taken the lead in the game and the Colts move on to stay the #2 seed. NY Jets pull off the upset in their matchup with the San Francisco 49ers as Burrow hits Chase for a pair of TDs, one for 89 yards, and then get a late TD from Huntley to go ahead and hold on for the win. Pittsburgh runs out to a big 24-7 lead and then manage just 3 points more while Cousins hits Boyd for a pair of TDs and then Hassan Reddick forces a fumble and picks up the ball to rumble 65 yards for the game winning score and move on to round 2.

In the NFC NY Giants need a late Nick Chubb TD run and then a defensive stop to hold off the Kansas City Chiefs and hold on to the #2 seed heading to round 2. Carolina led by Justin Fields two TD pass to Stefon Diggs and a TD run blow by the New Orleans Saints to complete the season sweep and move on to play the Giants. In possible the biggest defensive struggle of the week the Falcons get a late TD pass from Brissett to McKinnon and then hold the Texans to win a tight 13-10 contest and move on to face New England.

Coming up in the AFC Denver is well rested and will try and avoid the again upset minded NY Jets and Joe Burrow as they come to down for the Divisional Round matchup. The Denver defense will have to stop Burrow and Chase and if they can do that they have more than enough offense to win this one going away. Expect a big home win for the Broncos in round 2. The LA Chargers will be off to Indianapolis to try and pull off another win, but expect Aaron Rodgers to light things up this week against the Chargers defense and this one will be another game that exceeds the point spread with the home team holding on to get the win.

Coming up in the NFC Atlanta fresh off a stifling defensive game against Houston and Brady, will try and do the same thing to the Patriots in round 2. New England will need a big game from Goff and use their running game to grind it out against the Falcons and they should hold on for a lower scoring win on their home field. The NY Giants and Carolina Panthers should be pretty evenly matched and I would look for a shoot out between these two teams with a slight edge going to Giants and Nick Chubb as long as their QB doesn’t find a way to give this one away.
