MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
And
now we move on to the playoffs and the Wild Card Round which looks like
it may live up to it’s name. No real blow out opportunities here as all
6 games look to be solid matchups, with the possibility of an upset in
every one of them. While Denver and New England get to look on and rest
up for a week, the next 6 teams in each conference will battle it out to
join them in the Divisional Round and who will win each match up is
anyone’s guess (but I did just that if you look down below). We have
until Monday, January 8th to get games in, but for those who
want a head start, the files are up there and if we get done early, I
will get a jump on round 2. For those of you who are out of the
playoffs, look for some info on voting and props next week and we will
try and get that done so you can all start to enjoy the offseason
leading to the draft in May. Good luck to all!
The
AFC playoffs Denver wins they final games and lock into the #1 seed and
get a round 1 bye. Indianapolis wins but that just gets them into the #2
seed and they will host a game in round 1. San Francisco wins and have
the West division title and also host a home game. Pittsburgh wins their
game, but needed some help and get it as LA Chargers lose to Denver and
fall to the #5 seed and will visit Pittsburgh in round 1. NY Jets win
their final game to clinch a playoff spot and it came down to Cleveland
vs Green Bay and the Browns squeak out the win and get in. Seeds #6 and
#7 come down to a tie breaker and win the Jets winning both regular
season games over Cleveland, they get the #6 seed and a visit to San
Francisco, leaving the Browns as #7 and they will travel to
Indianapolis.
In
the NFC playoffs after the top 3 seeds things get a lot crazier. New
England ends up with the #1 seed and a bye due to a tiebreaker due to a
better conference record than the Giants who are the #2 seed and will
host a round 1 game. Carolina wins their last game and the West based on
their hth tiebreaker with the Saints and they are the #3 seed. Now comes
the huge mess as Atlanta loses, creating a 4 way tie at 11-6 with Kansas
City, Houston and New Orleans. To figure out the seeding, first thing we
look at is if any teams are in the same division and with KC and Houston
tied there, we eliminate one of them first. Houston beat KC twice and
that drops KC down to #7 seed. That leaves Houston, Atlanta and New
Orleans and they didn’t all play, so hth does not apply. All three teams
are tied at 8-4 for conference record, so that one doesn’t work either.
So we move to records vs common opponents and they don’t all have 4
opponents in common. So finally we move to Strength of Victory and
Atlanta leads the way with a .444, Houston is at .406 and New Orleans at
.374. So Atlanta had the toughest wins which means they get the #4 seed
and a home game vs Houston who is next and is #5 and New Orleans falls
to #6 and will face division rival Carolina.
Please make sure to get started on game contacts asap and don’t forget
to CC me on all of them so I can make sure games are getting set up
smoothly. Let’s see if we
can hit the first week deadline with all games played head-to-head and
as always if you need help let us know.
If you need a sub, please contact Jeff Shelton asap so he can try
and get you hooked up with someone to get your game in.
Make sure you have the latest action update which is available on
the website. Updated game
files are up, so make sure you go download them and start making contact
for playoff games. If you have any questions, now is the time, so please
ask before we get too far into things.
I
can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Don’t
forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an
injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so
don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage,
especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games
they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

News from Around the League
In the AFC Denver downs LA Chargers to win the West and #1 seed and
Indianapolis tops Dallas and is #2 in the conference. San Francisco
beats Tennessee to clinch the West and #3 seed while Pittsburgh runs by
Tampa Bay to earn the #4 seed and a home game against the Chargers. NY
Jets beat Green Bay and are the #6 seed while Cleveland sneaks by New
England to get in as #7 seed. Chicago falls to LA Rams and Minnesota
gets thrashed by Seattle. Buffalo locks up the #3 spot in the lottery
with a loss to Houston.
In the NFC New England loses a close one to Cleveland while resting
players but still are the #1 seed and NY Giants get to 14 wins with a
beating of Detroit. Carolina shuts out Philadelphia to lock up the West
and #3 seed and Atlanta loses to Jacksonville but backs in to the #4
seed. Houston downs Buffalo and are #5 and head to Atlanta while New
Orleans puts a beat down on Arizona but still end up the #6 seed. Kansas
City beats up Miami to clinch the final playoff spot and Seattle doubles
up Minnesota. Tampa Bay falls to Pittsburgh but despite being tied with
Miami will be the #2 seed in the lottery.
Coming up in the AFC Denver is the #1 seed and has a bye in the
Wild Card Round. Indianapolis hosts Cleveland and it will come down to
Rodgers having to step up or the Browns may find a way to pull of an
upset. San Francisco hosts the NY Jets in what should be a very
competitive game that will likely come down to whether Matt Ryan shows
up and plays well for the Niner or Burrow and his offense run away with
this one. Final game is a replay of an early matchup between Pittsburgh
and LA Chargers that the Steelers were able to pull out a win and with
Watson back they may have a chance but this one looks to be a road win
for the Chargers.
Coming up in the NFC New England has earned the #1 seed and a bye in the
Wild Card Round. With their good season so far the NY Giants are the #2
seed but don’t really win much of a surprise as they get Kansas City and
Kyler Murray who should give them a run, but the Giants have too much
firepower on offense and stopping power on defense and should take home
the easy round 1 win. Carolina came back from a horrid start to the
season that saw them hover around .500 most of the way and moving
between 3rd and 4th in the West, but a late push
of 6 straight wins get them the division title and a home game against
division rival New Orleans who is always dangerous and looking to avenge
a pair of regular season losses to the Panthers. Finally the middle
matchup should be a barn burner as the high scoring Texans take on the
defensively challenged Falcons, but Atlanta just seems to find a way to
keep winning games and this one may come down to home field and a late
score for the home team to steal a win.
