MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
Congratulations to Marty Golden and the Jacksonville Jaguars for a hard
fought win in the big game and their third Super Bowl title overall.
Congrats also go out to Jason Jensen and his Bears for a great season
and for fighting back to keep it close in the big game.
A great season in the books with possibly our most competitive
postseason every with just about every game being a tight contest an
upsets galore including Jacksonville coming from the 4th seed
to take 4 straight wins and finish with the title (after being in 7th
place heading to week 18).
The
season is now complete with a lot of stuff recapped below and now we
wait for the new game in a couple of months and a draft in early May
more than likely.
The
ballot voting is complete and here are the results:
Prop #1 -
For each game you win, you
get one "chance" at the lottery. So there are no longer 105
chances left to go around; there are 105 minus however many wins the
non-playoff teams get (will change every year). This current year,
non-playoff teams won 74.5 games, so 74.5 of the 105 "chances" are
spoken for.
The remaining chances are
divvied up in the same way as before (column H).
The percentage chance to
win the lottery is now in Column I. The team that won 9 games but missed
the playoffs actually has the best chance to win. The team who only won
1 game has the worst chance, but they are all still pretty even.
There is ZERO reason to
lose games. This is the best way I can think of (without going to a
salary/reward system or something that changes the fundamentals of the
league) to make every game important, as they should be.
The only thing Mark has to
do every year is fill in the number of wins by the non-playoff teams in
column B. The spreadsheet will do all the rest for him.

Prop #2 - Reduce penalty
occurrence to 50% of real life (currently set at realistic/100%)
Yes - 4
FAILED
Prop #3 - Reduce regular
season back to 16 games.
Yes - 7
FAILED
Prop #4 - If a player’s
injury status is questionable, probable, or doubtful, he can be made
inactive for that game if the owner/coach so chooses, rather than rely
on the luck of the game. This would need to be done by each coach prior
to their game beginning (not something that will be done at the league
level).
Yes - 17
FAILED
Prop #5 - In rule 3.3.3,
change “clinched their division” to “clinched a playoff spot”
Yes - 19
PASSED
Prop #6 - The league will
keep the 52 man rosters that were instituted 2 seasons ago. With the NFL
Covid issues over, the league will revert to the 49 man rosters that
were in place prior to the Pandemic unless 67% vote to continue the 52
man rosters for another season.
Yes - 14
FAILED
Prop #7 - Reserve Lists
will keep the 6 man limit that were instituted 2 seasons ago. With the
NFL Covid issues over, the league will revert to the 3 man Reserve Lists
that were in place prior to the Pandemic unless 67% vote to continue the
6 man Reserve Lists for another season.
Yes - 11
FAILED
Prop #8 - Before the draft,
all teams are required to cut to 36 players, and then will have to draft
back to the current league roster limit to try and stimulate some more
roster movement and more ability for teams lower in the standings to
rebuild a little faster.

Most
Valuable Player – Joe Burrow, NYJ
Burrow gets 9 1st place votes to easily takes home the MVP
ahead of Jamar Chase and Tom Brady who have 2 and 3 first place votes
respectively.
Coach
of the Year – Jason Jensen, CHI
Jason
also has by the far the most first place votes, with 8, and wins this
award going away with Mary Golden second (2) and then Valentino and Mark
tied at third place (Valentino takes the spot with 4 first place votes
to Mark’s two). Danielle Miozzi was the only other coach to get more
than one first place vote.
GM of
the Year – Conner McNeil, DET
This
was a tighter one as Conner and Valentino both have 6 first place votes,
but Conner was on 12 ballots to just the six for Valentino and takes
home the top spot in the overall vote.
Jason Jensen finishes third with 2 first place votes and then
Marty Golden and Hank Sienzant also get 2 first place votes.
AFC
Offensive Player of the Year – Joe Burrow, NYJ
Unsurprisingly, Burrow also takes the top spot here with 9 first place
votes, while Chase is second with 6 first place votes and Teddy
Bridgewater finishes 3rd with three first place votes.
AFC
Defensive Player of the Year – TJ Watt, SF
TJ
Watt gets 9 first place votes to finish well ahead of Myles Garrett who
had 5 first place votes but was on 14 total ballots.
Bobby Wagner finished in third place with a single first place
vote but 7 ballots and Darius Slay is the only other player to get 2
first place votes.
NFC
Offensive Player of the Year – Tom Brady, HOU
Brady
gets 8 first place votes with the rest spread out to a bunch of other
players including Cooper Kupp who finishes second with 2 first place
votes and 10 ballots and Davante Adams with 2 first place votes and 11
ballots round out the top 3.
Dak Prescott and Patrick Mahomes also had 2 first place votes.
NFC
Defensive Player of the Year – Jaycee Jackson, KC
Jackson gets 11 first place votes to win this one easily. Leonard
finishes a distant second with 3 first place votes and Trevonn Diggs was
third, also with 3 first place votes.
Offensive Rookie of the Year – Jamar Chase, NYJ
Not
even close here as Chase gets 15 of 20 first place votes to win this one
going away. Najee Harris
finishes a distant second with 2 first place votes but 13 second place
votes and Amon-Ra St. Brown is the only other player to get 2 first
place votes.
Defensive Rookie of the Year – Micah Parsons, PHI
Pretty much the same as the offensive award as Parsons gets 15 first
place votes out of 20 and is on 18 of 20 ballots. Patrick Surtain II
gets 3 first place votes and 10 second place to finish easily in second
place and then Nick Bolton gets the other first place vote to finish a
very distant third place.
Here
is the draft order, pre-lottery for the first 14 teams. The lottery
results are below and I will have the full draft order posted in a week
or too (whenever I have some free time to put things together).
Lottery Standings
Team Record
Opponent Record
Lottery results are in and we definitely had a couple of big winners
moving to the top. Thanks to
Jeff Shelton for helping me out and witnessing the lottery, here are the
results. First ball out of
the hopper goes to Miami who moves up from #7 to #1 overall in the first
round of the draft. Second
ball out hopper is the big move as San Francisco jumps up from #14 to #2
overall. With third ball
out, we see a more moderate move as Cleveland jumps up from #4 to #3 and
we have our first round draft order set as the rest of the teams slot in
after.

Please, do your best to be on time when you set you games and and don’t
forget you should be CCing me each time. Also, you should be sending out
a boxscore (which you have to save after the game) and a .xbx file for
each game and a small write up would be nice as well for each game.
Don’t forget that if you need a
sub for a game you should be emailing Jeff Shelton directly to set that
up rather than going through the email list to avoid confusion on who is
subbing. Playoff files will be out shortly, please get them and get
going on game contacts as soon as possible and make sure you are CCing
me on those so I know what is going on.
I
can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Don’t
forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an
injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so
don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage,
especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games
they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.
