MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
With
the regular season complete were are on to the playoffs for 14 teams and
14 teams have to wait a couple of weeks for the lottery to happen and
see how next years draft order is going to shake out.
See below for the playoff preview for those who are interested
and files are updated and ready to go for the Wild Card Round. For those
who are done, I will be posting some information about awards and ballot
props for next season and of course I will also start asking who is not
going to return for next year (and I hope that everyone will be back).
Good luck to the playoff teams and get going on game contacts whenever
you are ready.
Please, do your best to be on time when you set you games and and don’t
forget you should be CCing me each time. Also, you should be sending out
a boxscore (which you have to save after the game) and a .xbx file for
each game and a small write up would be nice as well for each game.
Don’t forget that if you need a
sub for a game you should be emailing Jeff Shelton directly to set that
up rather than going through the email list to avoid confusion on who is
subbing. Playoff files will be out shortly, please get them and get
going on game contacts as soon as possible and make sure you are CCing
me on those so I know what is going on.
I
can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Don’t
forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an
injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so
don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage,
especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games
they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

News from Around the League
In
the AFC Chicago completes their quest for the #1 seed with a win over LA
Rams and NY Jets end up the #2 seed as they down Arizona in a tough
inter-conference matchup. LA
Chargers already had the #3 seed locked up despite a loss to Tampa Bay
as they rested many starters and Pittsburgh beats Detroit to lock into
the #4 seed. Denver tops
Seattle to settle at #5 while despite a bad loss to Buffalo Indianapolis
survives the tiebreakers to end up #6.
Tennessee gets a tight and big win over Minnesota and despite San
Francisco beating Dallas the Titans get he #7 and final playoff spot
with a tiebreaker over the Niners. Green Bay downs Cleveland to round
out the slate and move ahead in the lottery standings.
In
the NFC Houston finishes with the best record in the league as they win
a tough one over New England and New Orleans falls to Jacksonville,
leaving the Saints and #2 and moving the Jags up to #3 as they win the
East. Despite the loss the
Patriots still get the #4 seed as Kansas City loses the hth tiebreaker
despite a win over Miami and the Chiefs are #5.
Arizona falls to NY Jets and also falls to the #6 seed while
Detroit loses to Pittsburgh and round out the playoffs with the #7 seed.
Seattle loses to Denver and Tampa Bay gets a win over LA
Chargers. Philadelphia runs Carolina out of the building and in the
battle for the #1 lottery seed, NY Giants beat the Falcons who with just
a single win have the best chance at the lottery #1 spot.
Coming up in the AFC the Chicago Bears have earned the bye and get the
week off while they watch the other 6 teams battle it out to move on to
the Divisional Round. The NY
Jets will host the #7 seed Tennessee Titans and on the face this appears
to be a lopsided game but keep in mind the Titans did open the season
with 7 straight wins and then injuries ravaged them and they stumbled
the rest of the way to the end.
They are healthy now and should at least make a game of it,
though the strong Jets offense will likely be the difference.
LA Chargers get a visit from Indianapolis and this one should be
a good scoring game with plenty of fireworks as both have strong
offenses and weak defenses and the edge goes to the Chargers as the
Colts don’t have enough skill guys to make Rodgers the difference he
should be. Pittsburgh hosts
Denver and this is a rematch of week 8 where Denver won a defensive
battle they stop the Steelers on the 2 yard line as time ran out to hold
on to a 4 point win. Both
teams are relatively healthy and the difference will be if the Denver
running game can go against the Steelers defense with the Broncos top WR
out for the game.
Coming up in the NFC Houston won in week 18 to earn the top spot in the
conference and a first round bye and they get to rest up for the
Divisional Round. New Orleans will host Detroit who lost their division
in week 18 falling from #3 to #7 and getting the playoff tested Saints
for their first playoff game.
This will be a matchup of the stingy New Orleans defense against
the high flying Lions passing attack and whether they contain them and
put pressure on Dak. If the Saints offense can break 20 points, they
should put down any upset thoughts from the young Lions. Jacksonville
takes their division with a week 18 win and set up a Wild Card matchup
with Arizona Cardinals who can score points in bunches.
The Jags have a tough defense but the game may hinge on Mahomes
and the offense finding a way to put up enough points on the Cards
offense to keep pace and not get blown away early.
The final matchup has the best defensive team in the league in
New England hosting Kansas City who they beat twice during the regular
season. The Chiefs defense is also in the top 6 and have a very strong
offense and it is always hard to beat any team three times in a season,
so this one will rest on Kyler’s arm and legs and if he can find a way
to move his team on.
