I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
A pair of defensive struggles in the Championship games with defense all
around and very little offense to be found.
New Orleans will look to defend their Super Bowl XXIII tile from
last season after they throttle the NY Giants offense for a 20-6 win in
the NFC Championship game.
Tennessee makes a long awaited return to the big game and they win a
battle of field goals over Houston, 19-16 in the AFC Championship and
will try and dethrone the Saints in the big game.
Super Bowl XXIV is now ready, you can get the game files on the
website. Please remember this is a neutral site game, so before you
play, make sure you set the stadium to Hard Rock Stadium and home field
advantage to zero before you guys get the game started. Looks like both
teams are at full strength, so good luck and may the best team win!
For those who may have missed it, the ballot is now available for you to
vote and can be found at the link below.
So far we have 13 votes in, so almost halfway there, so make sure
you get your vote in by Sunday night at midnight please!
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6SFCNFK
Also it is time for awards voting as one of the last things I need from
each of you before the end of the season. I would really appreciate if
you could take the time and complete the survey based on this past
seasons results and statistics and once completed I will update the
website to show the winner of each award.
Voting will close on Sunday, January 31st at midnight.
Link is below.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for
an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury,
so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage,
especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games
they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League
TEN – 19, HOU – 16
As expected, this turned out to be a defensive
battle from start to finish. And wasn't resolved until less than a
minute left.
The first quarter saw the host Titans have to
settle for two FG's and were up 6-0. Then the two teams traded TD's on
the next two drives. These were the only two TD's of the game. Halftime
score saw the Titans up 13-7.
Titans managed a FG early in the 3rd quarter to be
up 16-7, but Texans later matched it to pull back to within one score at
16-10. That was the score going into the 4th quarter. Titans had a 6 pt
lead and had the ball after a Houston punt going into the 4Q.
On the 2nd play of the 4th quarter, things started
to get shaky for the Titans. The Texans picked off QB Rivers and
returned the ball to the Titans 13 yard line. Texans couldn't punch it
in and had to settle for a short FG after the Titans D stiffened up.
Score was 16-13. The teams then traded punts.
On the Titans next possession, Philip RIvers had a
ball batted at the line and Texans CB Butler picked it off and returned
it down to the Titans 8-yd line. Once again, the Titans Defense was
stiff and forced another short FG. Texans have tied it at 16-16 and seem
to have everything going their way.
Titans start ensuing drive and go on a managing
10-play drive that ends with a tough decision. 1:30 left on clock and
4th and 1. Titans coach though long and hard about going for it and
trying to run the clock, after forcing Houston to use 2 timeouts
already. Titans take the points and a 19-16 lead and kickoff to the
Texans.
Houston only manages to pick up one first down then
Tennessee's defense rises again and forced the turnover on downs with
:45 left on the clock. Titans advance to the Super Bowl for only the 2nd
time under the current coaching staff.
NO – 20,
NYG – 6
This was a game where running yards were tough to
get and passing yards even tougher. A defensive game that was
controlled by the Saints only allowing the Giants 8 first downs for the
game. Dean stated after the game that a team with 2 QB's doesn't
have a QB lol. Lock played the first half going 2 for 12 for 14
yards. Dean benched Lock at half time and Goff started out the
second half with 2 completions and then threw a pick. Goff ends up
8 for 17 for 59 yards and a INT. So you can imagine how Dean's
night went. There were a few highlights for the Giants
intercepting Russell Wilson once and blocking a FG.
The Saints took the opening kickoff for a FG and
the Giants answered to tie it up at 3's. New Orleans managed to
get another field goal in the second quarter to take a 6-3 half time
lead. After Goff's INT Phillip Lindsey takes a pitch for a 13 yard
TD and a 2 score lead. NY answers with a FG and the 3rd quarter
ends with NO driving up 13-6. The second play of the 4th quarter
Russell Wilson connects with Davante Adams for a 20-6 lead. The
Giants drive to the 13 yard line and are a yard short on 4th down.
The Saint go on to win and punch their ticket for a trip to the
Superbowl.
