I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Congratulations to Ed on his first Super Bowl win in his third try and to Valentino on making his first Super Bowl and having a great playoff run.  The Saints were able to handle the Texans with Russell Wilson leading the way with 4 TD passes for a 31-13 win.  Thanks to all for sticking with things in another rocky season but I think we are looking pretty good going forward at this point so maybe that will all be in the past.  I will have more information in the final season newsletter after the lottery and ballot which we will be completing over the next little period of time.

I will be working on new league files this weekend assuming the game is out on time and once I have them done and out to everyone I will open up trading and the offseason and set a date to start the draft.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 1/9/20 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

BALLOT RESULTS

Ballot Proposal #1 - PASSED

Allow trading of picks for the current season as well as the next season during the current season. (currently you can't trade next years picks until just before the draft).  The following seasons picks would not be available until the current draft is completed.  (ie right now you could trade 2020 and 2021 picks freely. Once the draft is complete then the 2022 draft picks would be available to be traded).

Yes     - 18
No      -  9
Abstain -  1

Ballot Proposal #2 - FAILED

Allow trading during the offseason before the new files/ratings are released.

No      - 12
Abstain -  3

Ballot Proposal #3 - PASSED

Subbing rewards:

1. If you sub 1 time during the season you get a extra at end of the round 8th round pick .
2. If you sub 2 times during the season you get a extra 7th round pick . No 8th rd pick .
3. If you sub  3 times during the season you would get a extra 6th round pick . NO 7th round .
4. If you sun 4 times during the season you would get a extra 5th round pick NO 6th wound
5. If you sub 5 or more times you get a extra 4th round and 8th round pick .

If Wednesday you have not heard from you from team you are playing you will contact Jeff Shelton.
He will contact other team . If there is a sub needed you will contact Jeff Shelton who will send out a email asking for volunteers. If you are a NFC team I will try to find a AFC team to play dont want teams subing that could affect a playoff race. But in the end the most important thing will be playing the games head to head not SUBBING the games.

No      -  8
Abstain -  3

Ballot Proposal #4 - FAILED

Changing the Reserve List to a Practice Squad

Each team can carry a 3 man Practice Squad, they still have to have played 3 or less NFL games and do not count against the roster. But when we have injuries, we MUST call up these players to the active roster BEFORE picking up anyone on the free agent list, OR release that player. Positions still matter…..if you lose a G and you have anyone on your practice squad who plays G, you must call that player up first to fill in for the injury before going to the FA list. If you don’t have anyone on your practice squad who can fill in for an injured player at a specific position, you must go the FA list as normal (if you choose to).

This will make the stashing of quality players on the inactive list obsolete, as well as simply making sense (under our current system, we sign a player off the street before going to players on our inactive lists who would be ‘under contact’ to us, which is lunacy

2019 ISFL AWARDS

ISFL MVP - Michael Thomas, MIN

Michael Thomas wins the award by a single point based on making 11 of the 15 ballots with 2 first place votes.  Russell Wilson finished just behind him with 3 first place votes and Kirk Cousins was third with 4 first place votes (but only 6 ballots).  Also receiving first place votes were Ezekiel Elliott, Patrick Mahomes and Matt Ryan.

ISFL Coach of the Year - Ed Minshull, NO

Ed wins the coach of the year after taking the Super Bowl by a fairly good margin and 7 first place votes.  Jeff Shelton and Hank Sienzant finish in a tie for second with Jeff having 4 first place votes and Hank 2 but on 11 total ballots.  Valentino Montelbano also had a pair of first place votes to finish 4th.

ISFL GM of the Year - Jeff Shelton, SD

Jeff wins this by a similar margin to Ed with 5 first place votes and 14 of 15 ballots.  Valentino Montelbano finishes second with 3 first place votes and Ed Minshull was third with 2 first place votes. Dean Engemoen also had a pair of first place votes while the other three each had a single vote for the top spot.

AFC Offensive Player of the Year - Kirk Cousins, SD

Despite winning the ISFL MVP Michael Thomas gets edged out for AFC Offensive player by Kirk Cousins who led his team to a 15-1 regular season record and received 4 first place votes and was on 10 ballots. Thomas has 3 first place votes and was on 12 ballots total while Matt Ryan finishes in third with 3 first place votes as well.  Elliot and Brady each had a pair of first place votes with Kamara receiving one as well.

AFC Defensive Player of the Year - Aaron Donald, NE

Aaron Donald find his way onto 13 ballots and 8 first place votes to run away with this category.  Luke Kuechley finishes a distant second with 3 first place votes and Bobby Wagner was third with a first place vote and 5 total ballots. Xavien Howard had 2 first place votes and Derwin James had 1.

NFC Offensive Player of the Year - Russell Wilson, NO

With 8 first place votes and on 13 total ballots Russell Wilson just edges out Patrick Mahomes who had 5 first place votes and 12 total ballots.  DeAndre Hopkins finishes a distant third with 1 fist place vote and Brandin Cooks had the other first place vote.

NFC Defensive Player of the Year - Khalil Mack, NYG

In one of the tighter votes Mack gets 6 first place votes which is the difference as he beats out Kyle Fuller with 4 first place votes.  Rookie Darius Leonard finishes third with a first place vote but on 7 total ballots.  Eddie Jackson had 2 first place votes and Von Miller and Calaise Campbell each had a single one.

Offensive Rookie of the Year - Saquon Barkley, SF

So the only real surprise here was that someone totally left Barkley off their ballot but he received 14 first place votes to run away with the ballot. The real race was for the second spot and Nick Chubb edges out Baker Mayfield with 5 second place votes and 12 total ballots. Mayfield finishes third with the other first place vote and 4 second place spots.

Defensive Rookie of the Year - Darius Leonard, KC

In a somewhat close vote Leonard takes the award with 6 first place votes and on 13 total ballots.  Derwin James finishes up second with 4 first place votes and 11 ballots and Leighton VanderEsche finishes a distant third with 2 first place votes and 8 ballots.  Chubb also received 2 first place votes and Roquan Smith had a single.
