I. MESSAGE
FROM THE COMMISSIONER
The Wild Card
round is complete with varying results.
Tennessee gives Dallas a rough ride, shutting out their divisional rival,
30-0 and moving on to the next round with ease.
Kansas City wins comfortably over Philadelphia as the Chiefs appear to be
peaking at the right time despite a very up and down regular season.
New Orleans takes a fairly easy win over Jacksonville who ended up with a
tough matchup after losing the division in the final week. And the closest game
was a Patriots upset over the NY Jets as Tom Brady was unable to manufacture a
late Tie/Win to give his team a chance to move on to the next round.
The
Divisional Round is set with 4 very good games that should be close and make for
some interesting football. In the AFC Indianapolis will host division rival New
England in a matchup of teams who know each other very well and have a ton of
talent while Tennessee will travel to Houston and try and knock off a Texans
team that has rolled through most of their competition this season.
In the NFC Carolina gets a very tough first game as they have the New
Orleans Saints coming to town with both teams holding a regular season win and
the winner will have a good shot at moving on next round as well.
Kansas City will try and keep rolling against a Detroit team who also had
a very up and down season and the Lions are fresh and should have a chance to
move on to test their mettle against the big guns out west.
Playoff files are up and ready for the Divisional Round.
I am looking
for potential owners right now if you know anyone who is interested in the
league, I need an owner in Dallas and would like some names to get ready in case
we have more openings after the season.
Game files are located on the website for the final regular season files.
Please make sure you get started on game contacts asap, home teams should
make contact by Wednesday and the game should be set up no later than Thursday
of each week.
I can’t
stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the
game is complete. Send your write up
later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends
or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the
deadline.
***There is a new game update available on the website, dated
10/31/17 ***
Don’t forget,
if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement,
but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those
requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already
challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that
you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.
The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long
as it does get done. Also, you MUST
send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that
file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a
game has happened or not.

II. News from
Around the League
Tennessee Titans 30 vs Dallas 0
Dallas comes in with Coach
Hank at the controls. Cowboys never really could get much going consistently and
Tennessee was able to get a few big plays to win this one comfortably. Can’t put
this on Coach Seinzant, as he had the right calls in several instances but
player execution left a lot to be desired.
Titans win this one 30-0
and Cowboys are done for the year.
New England
Patriots 20 vs NY Jets 17
Jets need a FG to tie, 2+ mins to go, near midfield,
Brady at the helm with his 10 pressure rating and home town crowd behind
him...yeah right.
Patriots prevail and move to the next round, good luck
Daniele, thanks for easy scheduling.
Kansas City
Chiefs 35 vs Philadelphia Eagles 22
Chiefs offense clicking down stretch and extends their
good fortune into play-off Wild Card round.
Lead by QB Alex Smith, KC comes
back from 13-0 deficit and beats Philly 35-22 to advance into Division Rd vs # 2
Detroit.
KC was a perfect 5/5 in the Red Zone to carry the day.
New Orleans
Saints 29 vs Jacksonville Jaguars 14
Marty brings
his Jacksonville to the Big Easy for the wildcard match. New Orleans kicks
off and Jimmy Garopollo gets the start over Marcus Mariota. It looks like
a great move as the Garopollo to Cooks connection converts two 3rd downs and a
25 yard TD. 7-0 Jaguars. New Orleans first drive stalls and both
teams trade punts. The first quarter ends with Jacksonville controlling
the game. Russell Wilson goes to an audible on the first play of the 2nd
quarter and hits Devante Adams for a 60 yard bomb but he gets tackled from
behind by Ramsey. The Jaguars defense holds the Saints to a Tucker FG.
The Saints crowd noise lifts their defense to force a three and out.
Russell Wilson goes to work again and the Saints are driving when 2 penalties
and a Ware sack makes it a 3rd and 30. A great call has TE Bennett running down
the middle of the field for 41 yards to the 7 yard line and a first
down. Jacksonville's defense steps up one more time and the Saints have to
settle for a 22 yard Tucker FG. Jacksonville comes right back with a TD
drive aided by 2 pass interference penalties and go into the lock room leading
14-6.
The Saints get
the ball to start the 2nd half and Tavon Austin breaks a 40 yard run.
Russell Wilson is perfect with a TD throw to Adams and the Saints close the gap
to 14-13. LB McKinney gets a huge 3rd down sack to force a punt on the
next possession and New Orleans Wilson to Adams duo strikes again. The
Saints take their first lead of the game at 14-20. New Orleans special teams
coach noticed a hole in Jacksonville kickoff coverage and does a surprise onside
kick. Shane Vereen recovers it for the Saints. This leads to a Tucker FG
and a 2 score lead. The Saints defense loves playing with the lead and they
attack Garopollo the remainder of the game. When Russell Wilson leads the
offense to a long drive taking close to 9 minutes off the clock the Saints
fans start celebrating their last home game of the season. Final JAX 14 NO 29
The Saints
advance and head to Detroit while the Jaguars look to next year's draft.
