I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Both games hold to form as Indianapolis and Dallas play a tight one while the Seahawks fly high and crush the Panthers.  Game files are located on the website for the final round of the playoffs, please get the files and go ahead and get your games set up and play the Super Bowl at your leisure.

I am now accepting ballot props per the separate email I have sent out, feel free to discuss anything you would like over the list and then provide me with fully fleshed out proposals by Sunday, February 5th so I can do a preliminary ballot and we can try and have voting complete by the end of the playoffs. Remember as always, if you do not plan to return next season I would ask that you please refrain from the ballot discussion. Thanks.

Final awards ballot is coming soon.

I can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.

***There is a new game update available on the website, dated 10/08/16 ***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.  Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC Indianapolis keeps on rolling as they down the Cowboys in a close one 22-17 with a pair of 4th quarter FG’s from Prater and a big defensive stand in the final 2 minutes to preserve the win and head back to the Super Bowl.

Indy goes to their 3rd Super bowl in 5 years, after winning a close one against visiting Cowboys, who were shorthanded at the QB position. The game was close throughout, with Dallas getting on board first with a 6 yards TD run from Langford. Indy answers back with a FG on the ensuing drive. This is when the trouble starts for cowboys, as they fumble the kick return at their own 12 yard line (first of three special teams miscues from Cowboys). Indy takes advantage of the short field position to score a TD and goes up 10-3. Indy adds one more FG to close the half at 13-3.

Cowboys fumble one more kick return at their own 11 yard line to start the second half, cowboys defense bails their special teams by holding Indy to a FG to make it 16-7. After exchanging punts on the next four possessions, cowboys get the ball at their own 17 yard line. On 3rd and 4th, seeing Indy's LB's blitzing, Langford slips behind the offensive line for a screen pass and takes it to the house for 77 yard TD, to make it 16-14. On the ensuing drive, Indy mounts a 9 play 52 yard drive to score a FG and gives some breathing room for its defense. 14 minutes left in the game at this point.

Disaster strikes for Cowboys special teams again on the next possession as the punt is blocked by Wilkerson at Cowboys 28 yard line. Cowboys defense again bails their special teams by holding Indy to a FG, to make it 22-14. Cowboys get a good return on the ensuing kickoff to the Indy 44 yard line. After a 22 yard gain by Snead, Indy defense tightens up and holds Cowboys to be a FG to make the score 22-17 with 9 minutes left on the clock. Indy burns 3:30 off the clock on the next possession and punts the ball back to Cowboys and pins them down at 13 yard line. Do or die drive for the Cowboys, 5:38 left on the clock , 83 yards to go with one time out. Cowboys get four first downs on bunch of short passes to Gates and solid runs by Lanford. With 1:56 left on the clock, Cowboys were on Indy 43 yard line, first play after 2 minutes warning was a short pass to Andre Johnson for 3 yards, next two passes to Snead and McCoy were incomplete, 4th down and Cowboys need 7 yards, Indy defense playing zone, Cassell throws a medium hitch to gates, pass is completed, but is short of first down marker by 1 yard. Indy goes through the formalities and kills the clock to eke out a close one.

I would like to tip my hat to Dan for calling an outstanding game, he knew exactly what to do coming in with a second string QB. He tried to slow the game down and gave himself a great chance to win the game. His defensive calls were excellent, if not for those three special teams mistakes, the end result would have been completely different.

In the NFC Seattle finally finds an answer for Antonio Brown and Derek Carr while their offense shreds the Panthers defense and the Seahawks will now make their first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history.

In an NFC Championship matchup Seattle is able to defeat visiting Carolina Panthers. Seahawks were obsessed with stopping Antonio Brown and
Carolina was obsessed with stopping Green. Both receivers were doubled for most of the game but while Brown was 7-92 with a 95 yards punt return Carr had a really tough game whereas Green was 9-183 ands Palmer had 133.8 qb rating verses 75 for Carr. But with car doubling wr's  McFaddsen was able to gain 176 yards.

Seahawks get the breaks and move on to their first Super Bowl.

------

The Super Bowl is set and the Indianapolis Colts will face off with the Seattle Seahawks.  The Colts are old hands at this as they make their third appearance in 5 years while Seattle is taking their first kick at the bucket.  This is a matchup of a couple of high powered offense and likely the defense that is able to slow the other team down will get the win in this game.
