MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
The
Conference Championships were a couple of great games with big time
teams going head to head and Philadelphia and Indianapolis come out on
top and head to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. Congratulations to
Detroit and Dallas on great seasons that came up just one step short,
awesome work by you guys to build the teams you have.
Make sure when the Super Bowl is played that the field is set for
the Superdome, I already have HFA turned off. Be sure if you have
trouble hooking up that you get a plan in place and contact me for a sub
if needed. There are updated
files for the playoffs on the website main page, please make sure you
get those and get started as soon as you are able to.
No time limit on the Super Bowl guys, please play at your
convenience and good luck!
I
can’t stress enough that you need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game
export when the game is complete.
Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the
game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to
keep things moving along if it is missing at the deadline.
Don’t
forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an
injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so
don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage,
especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games
they have to work with.
Also, be sure you give me enough names as the more injuries the more
likely someone else already grabbed the guy you want.
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after
each game. The home team is
responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get
done. Also, you MUST send me
the game export immediately after the game is complete.
It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down
for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to
guess whether a game has happened or not.

Championship Summary
Indy goes to its second SB in three years after
posting a 33-20 victory over visiting Dallas. After winning the toss and
elected to kick,Indy pins Dallas deep in their territory on couple of
offensive holding calls. Peterson gets called for a pass interference on
3rd and 29, which gives Dallas a fresh set of downs, but Indy defense
holds ground and Dallas punts the ball. Indy's offense moves the ball on
couple of big passes to Jennings and White, but have to settle for a
47yard field goal. The next Dallas drive also ends in a punt due to huge
sack by Moala on 2nd down resulting in a loss of 8 yards. Indy takes
advantage of good field position and moves the ball all the way to
Dallas 7 yards line, but Dallas defense shows up big time and stops Indy
from gaining an inch on the next 3 plays resulting in an 26 yard field
goal. On the next drive coach Bob takes advantage of his
MVP McCoy running skills and score a TD on 8 play drive. McCoy ran the
ball for 44 yards on six carries on this drive finishing it with a 4yard
TD run. Indy gets a good return from Ginn Jr, and like earlier drives
moves the ball all the way to Dallas 8, again Dallas defense shows up
big time by stopping Indy with out giving an inch on the next three
plays. Indy settle for a 26 yard field goal making it 9-7. This time
coach Bob takes advantage of Brees aerial weapons and moves the ball to
Indy 31 yard line, but a sack by Malcolm Smith results in an 49 yard
Dallas field goal making it 10-9. Indy punts on the next drive after
failing to gain a first down. With more than 5 minutes left in the first
half, Dallas methodically marches all the way to Indy 23, this Indy
defense holds its nerve and forces Dallas to settle for a 41 yard field
goal. With less than 22 second left

Championship Summary
The
Philadelphia Eagles will be advancing to the Super Bowl for the first
time in 15 years under current management. The Eagles avenged a
Week 17 loss at Detroit with a 21 to 13 victory. Both teams came
into the game featuring strong passing offenses but they both were
stymied. The Eagles passed for only 177 yards and the Lions threw
for 179 yards. Philadelphia had 302 total yards to 291 for
Detroit. There were no turnovers in the game. The difference
was red zone offense. The Eagles scored touchdowns on all three
journeys into the red zone. Detroit only got their twice and had to
settle for two field goals.
Detroit started
the scoring in the first quarter with a 27 yard Nick Novak field goal.
On the Eagles next possession Alfred Morris took a 3rd and short carry
for 51 yards, setting up his own 3 yard touchdown run. The Eagles
led 7 to 3 after one quarter.
Detroit's
following possession resulted in another short 28 yard field goal.
the Eagles answered again with a 1 yard Alfred Morris touchdown
following a 7 minute drive. Novak ended the first half missing a
45 yard field goal. At halftime, Philadelphia held a 14 to 6
advantage.
There was no
scoring in the third quarter as the teams repeatedly punted the ball
back and forth.
The Eagles
scored again early in the fourth quarter on a 9 yard pass from Peyton
Manning to Calvin Johnson. The Eagles led 21 to 6 with 14 minutes
left. Detroit punted the ball away. But then Philly had a
three and out. This is when things started getting real
interesting. Jeremy Ross returned the punt 71 yards for a
touchdown cutting the lead to 8 points with with 11:39 remaining.
Philadelphia again had a short possession. Detroit took over at
their own 46 yard line with 10 minutes remaining however, they had to
punt once again. The Eagles took over at their own 5 yard line
with 9 minutes left needing to eat some clock and that's what they did.
Their drive took them to the Lions 35 yard line with 2 minutes
remaining. Nick Folk lined up for a game sealing 52 yard field
goal, but missed. Detroit had one last chance. Taking over
at their own 42, they had to move the ball 52 yards, score a touchdown
and a two point conversion without the use of any timeouts.
Unfortunately for Dave Stewart, the drive faltered and the Eagles took
over on downs.
Alfred Morris
was named the game MVP running 19 times for 123 yards and 2TD.
The Eagles will
meet up with co-worker and "rival" Sri Gullapalli's Indianapolis Colts
in the Super Bowl.
