I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Halfway through the season and going strong, keep up the good work!.  Please, if you send me an injury sub request, let me know the full name of the player being replaced, how many games and the full name of the replacement so I don’t have to try and figure all that out on my own, just saves me some time.

I can’t stress enough that need to IMMEDIATELY send me your game export when the game is complete.  This is the second straight week that a host had something come up and forget to send me an export.  It takes about 30 seconds following your game to export it and send it to me.  Send your write up later on, that’s fine, but I MUST have the game export as soon as the game ends or I’ll have to sim the game to keep things.

***A new game update is available dated 10/13, please get it from the ISFL website before you play any games this week.***

Don’t forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as the injury, so don’t wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for the amount of games they have to work with.

Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game.  The home team is responsible for this, but either team can do it, as long as it does get done.  Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete.  It takes about 30 seconds, so I shouldn’t have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I don’t have to guess whether a game has happened or not.

II. News from Around the League

In the AFC, Buffalo whips Cleveland, Denver stumbles against the visiting Jags and the Jets beat Houston to get back within one game of first place.  Indy beats Chicago to stay on top of the Central, while Pittsburgh beats New England to tighten up the division race.  Dallas loses a tough one against Detroit but Tennessee can’t take advantage against Seattle and San Diego gets beat by Philly.  Minnesota beats San Francisco to keep both teams in the basement together out West.  At the halfway point, a LOT of teams are still in contention with only Cleveland and Chicago truly out of it though Minny and the Niners don’t have much room to work with.

In week 9, Denver will head to San Diego as they try and hold off the Jets who face Minnesota.  Buffalo tries to stay in the playoff race and hold off Houston for 3rd in the East while Cleveland will try for the upset as they host the Packers.  Indianapolis hosts Carolina as they try and stay on top of the Central, while New England hosts Dallas and Pittsburgh heads to Tennessee, trying to keep pace.  Chicago hosts Arizona as they try and get out of the AFC basement.  San Francisco hosts the NY Giants.

In the NFC, Jacksonville and Detroit both beat top teams from the AFC to stay on top of the East.  Seattle keeps pace with a win over the Titans, Atlanta gets a big win over Kansas City and the NY Giants fall again, this time to Arizona who stay on top of the West.  Philadelphia beats San Diego to keep pace with the Cards and New Orleans beats Miami to keep playoff hopes alive and Carolina does the same against Tampa Bay who continue the fight for the top draft pick.  Green Bay beats St. Louis to stay on top of the Central and Kansas City falls to the Falcons.  6 teams are 6-2 or better in the NFC and have the inside track at a playoff slot and it looks like only Carolina and New Orleans at 4-4 have any real chance of getting back into the fight.

Week 9 in the NFC has Green Bay heading to Cleveland as they try and keep the distance in the Central and Kanas City and St. Louis face off, with both holding very slim playoff hopes which are likely gone with a loss.  Arizona heads to Chicago and Philadelphia hosts Miami as both teams fight for the top slot in the West.  Carolina heads to Indianapolis and New Orleans hosts Seattle with both teams needing wins to stay in the playoff hunt and Tampa Bay and Atlanta face off as both look to be more in the lottery race than the playoff race.  Jacksonville and Detroit go head to head in the game of the week with the winner having a leg up in the East and Seattle waits to pounce if they can get a win against the Saints and move closer to the top.  NY Giants head to San Francisco in another game involving likely lottery participants.
