I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
This is it, final push for the playoffs for some. Please, if you are out of the playoffs, you still need to be sure to get your hth
game in this week as it probably is still important to your opponent. Lets please keep on top of game contacts (remember you are
required to CC me on all of them) through the rest of the season. See below for a playoff update race.
A new game update is available dated 11/30, please get it from the ISFL website before you play any games this week.
Alex is home and slowly getting up to speed and should be back in charge for the offseason and going forward. I have assured him
that his team is here no matter how long it takes and that he should just focus on his recovery and that we all hope he can return
to us soon. Hank Sienzant has offered to run the Dolphins until Alex returns and that works for me and is greatly appreciated,
so please contact Hank for all Miami games until further notice. Thanks!
Dont forget, if you lose a player for 2 or more games, you can ask for an injury replacement, but it must be done the same week as
the injury, so dont wait, get those requests in right away and take advantage, especially the teams who are already challenged for
the amount of games they have to work with (this obviously doesnt apply to anyone who wont be playing in the playoffs).
Reminder that you MUST send a boxscore and writeup to the league after each game. The home team is responsible for this, but either
team can do it, as long as it does get done. Also, you MUST send me the game export immediately after the game is complete. It takes
about 30 seconds, so I shouldnt have to chase you down for that file after a game, just get it in right away so I dont have to guess
whether a game has happened or not.
Other that this stuff, just keep up the good work and good luck to all for the final week of the regular season!
II. News from Around the League
In the AFC, instead of things getting clearer, they just got a bit tougher to figure this week. Tennessee gets the big win of the
week as they down the Cowboys and clinch the West division for the first time under new coach Ashton Ewing. Indianapolis keeps on
winning as they come back to beat the Steelers and leave Pittsburgh needing a win and some help to get anywhere. The Jets beat
Denver and stay in step with Indy for the top spot in the conference while Houston has clinched the 4th playoff spot with a win over
Tampa and they will host a first round game. Cleveland puts the pressure on Pittsburgh with a win over Minnesota, while Chicago
beats San Diego to keep their hopes alive as well. San Francisco wins in Green Bay to close out the week.
The AFC playoffs have only Houston and Tennessee locked into a spot as the Texans will be the 4th seed and Titans the 3rd seed no
matter what happens this week and they will host a playoff game in round 1. Indy hosts Jacksonville, not a gimme by any stretch, but
the NY Jets have the tougher test as Philadelphia comes to town and needs a win to get their division so this could decide the top spot
in the AFC though both teams have a bye. Dallas sits in the 5th seed right now but an upset by division rival San Francisco could
leave them in a tie with as many as two other teams for the final two spots. Cleveland and Pittsburgh are tied for the 6th seed, but
the Browns hold the spot based on hth play, so the Steelers need a win over Buffalo and a loss by Cleveland at the Giants (who have
the division clinched, but not a bye, so who knows how hard they go this week), otherwise a win by Cleveland and they are in regardless.
Dallas is in the playoffs, a three way tie with Cleveland and Pittsburgh leaves them with the best conference winning percentage so
they would get the 5th seed (they would end up sixth only if they end up tied with just Pittsburgh, based on hth). Chicago needs losses
by Cleveland and Pittsburgh and a win over New England and they would win a three way tie for the final playoff spot.
In the NFC, Jacksonville beats Detroit, while Atlanta wins over New England and things get tighter in the East. NY Giants beat Seattle
to clinch the division and St. Louis gets a big division win over the Chiefs to keep pace. Philadelphia beats Buffalo to stay on top
in the West, while Carolina beats the Saints and Arizona beats Miami and all three have a shot at the division still.
The NFC playoffs, nothing is set yet for seeds, but Philly, NY Giants, St. Louis, Carolina and Arizona are all definitely in, while
Atlanta and Detroit will battle head to head with the winner making it in. St. Louis has the easiest road with the Packers coming to
town and likely will get a win and go to 12-4. The Giants face Cleveland, a tough test, but one they can win if they dont rest too
many players, while Philly gets the hardest road as they go to the Jets, who need the win badly and the Eagles could drop all the way
to the 5th seed if they arent very lucky. Philly wins the West with a win, no matter what the others do. Carolina hosts Seattle and
Arizona hosts Minnesota, so its possible we could finish with a 3 way tie atop the NFC West if the Eagles stumble, in which case
Arizona would win the division based on the best record within the division. If Arizona and Philly end up tied, again the Cards get
the division, while a Carolina Philly tie would come down to common games and well figure that out when it becomes necessary. If all
three win, then Carolina and Arizona will be tied at 11-5 and Arizona gets the 4th seed based on a better division record. Atlanta and
Detroit have the easiest scenario as the winner is in the playoffs, while the loser is out, though what seed they get will depend on how
Arizona and Carolina finish up, again, too many scenarios to figure just yet there.
