MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER Well, here we are, starting our 13th season, looking to see if we can crown our 10th different champion in a row. Just a few reminders as we get started. The home team is required to contact his opponent no later than Tuesday evening with the best times to play. The visiting team must respond no later than Wednesday and I would like to see all games set up by Thursday night so that we don’t head to the weekend with games up the air. Remember that NO games may be played vs a computer coach, all games must have a human coach on both sides OR be simmed on the commissioner’s computer. If you can’t make a game, please find a sub or let me know you need one and I’ll find one for you. From what I have heard, everyone should be able to host at this point, at worst you may have to use Hamachi, but at least it appears everyone can make that work if needed. If you run into problems, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to get things running smoothly. After the game, you MUST 1) send me the game export and 2) send a boxscore and game write-up to the list. This is a league requirement and is MANDATORY, so please, don’t forget to send these out after the game. Exports should be sent immediately following the game so that I’m not searching for them on Monday evening or in case there is a problem with the import on me end. If you want to send the export with the boxscore, that is fine with me. It is the home teams responsibility to be sure these get out to me and the list, but if the visitors win and want to do the write-up, I have no problem with this, as long as it gets done. Don’t forget to take advantage of injury pickups, they can really make life easier when you need to fill in the gaps, so don’t be afraid to avail yourself of their help but get them in asap each week so you don’t miss the deadline. Games are due by Monday, August 31st at 10 pm eastern so that I can get new files out by the end of MNF, so please, plan to start a Monday game no later than 8 pm eastern and get me the results asap as any games not done by 10 pm will be simmed on my computer with whatever coaches I have in my possession. All the game rules are set up in the game, you MUST NOT change any settings as they are the league rules and must be adhered too. This includes the game clock, home field advantage and injury/penalty settings, so please, leave them as they are and everything will run smoothly. Any questions, let me know, otherwise, get going on the game contacts and good luck to all on hopefully another great season! II. News from Around the League Week 1 beings with a rematch of this past years AFC Championship game, with the Steelers again heading to NY to face the Jets and see if we can get an early indication of who might be the team to beat in the AFC this year. Dallas will face New England in another big AFC matchup as we may be seeing how 4 of the top teams in the conference will perform this year. Houston starts off with a division game versus Buffalo and will be trying to take over the top spot as the class of the AFC, which of these teams will come out on top? We have 16 weeks to try and find out. In the NFC, the Super Bowl champions begin their title defense with a trip to Seattle, can the Lions be the first repeat champion in 9 years? Jacksonville takes on the new look Giants and we’ll see if Peyton Manning can turn his club around and get them back to the top of the conference where they could often be found in the early years of the league, now guided by former commissioner Dean Engemoen. Bob Colleary and the St. Louis Rams are embarking on their farewell tour and start off with with the San Diego Chargers, led by new/old head coach, Wil Blandford who has returned to the fold and will attempt to build another team to respectability and playoff contention.
