Message from the Commissioner II. News from Around the League III. Standings IV. Results V. Week 9 Schedule VI. Transactions VII. Other News including Players of the Week I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER We have hit the halfway point of the season and things are moving along very smoothly. I would still ask that some of you do a better job of making your game contacts, we have 2 or 3 owners who are forgetting to CC me and/or not replying in a timely manner and as teams start to drop out of the playoff race, I know interest will wane a bit, but please, if someone emails you for a game contact, get right back to them. All games should be set up by Wednesday night, let’s work on that, though overall, we are doing well. We did have our first sim in a long time this week so I’ll remind you all again that setting up games for Monday is a bad idea as there is no time to fall back on if you do that. Trade Deadline is just 2 weeks away at the end of week 10. All trades must be in by 10 pm eastern on the Monday of that week, please don’t be late with confirmations as I hate having to void trades. Finally, another reminder, though it only affects one or two teams. Please, immediately upon completion of the game, whoever hosts needs to send me the .xbx file right away so I don’t have to chase after games that I think should be finished. One team or another should then write up a game summary and send the boxscore to the list (please, don’t zip the boxscore, it’s just easier for everyone to read as they don’t have to open it up). Week in Review/Preview The NFC had a big game as Detroit visits Atlanta and the Lions come home with a big road win to take a lead in the division. The Falcons are a game back now and the Jags 2 games back with 8 games to play, so things could still get interesting. Seattle and the Giants have fallen well back and are now probably in the group preparing for the lottery and could be sellers in the next couple of weeks leading up to the deadline. St. Louis and Philadelphia both move to 7-1 this week and both have solid leads in their divisions. New Orleans and Green Bay right now are fighting with Jacksonville for the final two wildcard positions, though Tampa Bay is still in the hunt as well at 3-5 but would need to get on a serious roll. At this point, there are 6 teams who appear to be out of the playoff race already and could be sellers at the deadline, maybe we’ll see some trading action going down over the next couple of weeks, though who knows what might happen in week 9 to bring one or more of these teams back into the race. The AFC had the biggest game of the week and for the seconds straight week, it wasn’t really close as the Jets put a beatdown on the Cowboys and for the first time in quite a few seasons, we won’t have an undefeated team in the league. Dallas still holds a 2 game lead in the division over San Diego and their week 15 matchup may well decide the division if the Cowboys stumble and the Chargers can stay the course. In the East, the Jets also hold a 2 game lead over the Texans who are finally getting things moving in the right direction and with their defense, they could still make a race of it. In the Central, Pittsburgh has stretched out to a 2 game lead on Indianapolis, but the Colts can put a dent in that this coming week as they host the Steelers who won’t be able to spot them to a 17 point lead and hope to get back in the game as they did against Chicago in week 8. Buffalo, New England and Tennessee all sit at 4-4 and are waiting to pounce if the teams in front of them can’t catch the division leagues and stumble and even Denver and Chicago are still in the playoff chase, though with so many teams ahead of them, they’ll have to get on a serious roll to keep their hopes alive. The Niners, Vikings and Browns are likely out of the playoffs and in the lottery race, look for them to be sellers in the coming weeks up to the deadline as they try and add some youth going forward. Roddy White helps the Texans get back into the playoff hunt this week with 9 catches for 165 yards and 4 touchdowns to become the Offensive Player of the Week. Second year man, Mario Williams, has the best game of his young career to earn Defensive Player of the Week. Williams has 4 sacks and 10 tackles in losing a close game to the Chargers in week 8. II. News from Around the League Games of the Week Pittsburgh @ Indy - The Battle for the AFC Central Offense QB Pitt - Jackson keeps playing at a high level but his numbers have declined in recent weeks RB Indy - They will have to really ride Grant here as backup's are out WR/TE Even OL Even Defense DL Indy - Allen gives Indy a slight edge LB Even DB Even ST Pitt If Pitt wins the have total control of the Central Division if Indy wins it is a dogfight Pitt 24- Indy 20 - Pitt takes control of division Jeff Shelton Good luck to all this week ISFL Mid-Season Report AFC New York Jets A They have been everything most league observes though they would be . Another AFC title is within there reach Houston B- One of the if not the top defense in the ISFL has played solid not "Great" as alot thought , This team can be a playoff team but depends on Eli as he will have to play late in the season looking at there passing attempts Buffalo C They are rebuilding under a New Coach -GM Bob Ashley they could make some moves for the future before the week 10 trade dealine . Denver D- Another rebuilding team the is in desperate need of a QB for the future as the have so very good young play makers Cleveland F Our 3 rebuilding team in the AFC East they have massive draft picks to use 3 in the top 28 ,9 overall they are hoping the "win" the Matt Ryan lottery at the end of the season . AFC Central Pittsburgh A Mark has the Steelers all most rebuilt for the future and contenders this season with a young team with some verteans mixed in . Indianapolis A+ Sri has done a great job though injuries and limited usage is catching up with him T.Jackson has accounted for 21 Td's 12 rushing , 9 passing New England B Larry has the Pats looking like maybe a wildcard contender this season with 2 starting QB's on the roster , and a "STUD" young RB he should give Mark , Sri trouble for years to come . Chicago D Things have got bad in Chicago Jason maybe looking at a total rebuild there AFC West Dallas A+ Dan has played a perfect season so far and the team has 12 draft picks next season 2-1's , 2-2's so things are looking bright in Dallas San Diego B This team has a shot at a wildcard this season but long term will have to decide if it is time to retool ? Tennessee B- ashton has the team competive with the best team in the league week end week out ,But is Bulger the solution long term San Fran. D Tim is rebuilding and things havent went well has has some stars , Addai ,Grant , Young but alot of rebulding to go . Minnesota F This team has stars Moss , Welker ,Henderson but at sometime got to move so stars and go into rebuild for future . NFC East Detriot A Dave has built a monster team with 4 recivers with 75+ catches ,this team has everything needed to win NFC Atlanta A- Pete has done great things with Atl and a playoff spot could be in there future but this team future will be decided by which Anderson shows up the rest of the season the one who had a qb rating of 118.7 rating though 5 games or the one who has a 51.9 qb rating last 3 games . Jacksonville B The defending champs are still alive and as John Madden says till they cant be champs anymore they are the best I agree still the team to beat with the huge trade with GB after week 6 they look very good down the stretch . Seattle D- Team in turmoil older team with a few younger star players but is it time for a full blown rebuild or try to stay competive in what is the toughest division in the ISFL New York Giants F How this team has only won 1 game is amazing as there is alot of talent there with below average RB's you would think this would be a passing team but run more than pass why ? Central St.Louis A Bob has his team right in the hunt for another NFC title if Bob can keep this team heathly for a playoff run may be the favorites Green Bay A- Vince has this team in good shape for the future paid a high price for Rivers but was a needed move short -long term the future looks good in GB Kansas City D Rebuilding this team as it was a total MESS Buddy has done a good job getting them into this postion they look to be much better next year Miami D - Alex team has Brees , but limited recievers and running backs looks like a long year in Miami hoping for a high pick for a RB , WR West Philly A Jeff reloaded this team during the draft and has it playing at a high level with ball control and great defense if Campbell misses several games could have troubles later in season . New Orleans B Romo has been a turnover factory throwing Int's but overall the team has played well and could contend for a West title or wildcard spot Tampa Bay B+ The Bucs has got more of out less than any ISFL team in my opion having forced 20 turnovers in 7 games almost 3 a game has Don's bunch a dangerious team for anyone to play Arizone C- Andy's team has had injuries every where and when rebuilding it makes for a long season but the future is bright will be a West powerhouse very soon Carolina D Shans season has been easy to see turnovers have killed him and lost the close games .
