I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER

Huge upsets and home field meant little in the Divisional round. Good luck to those who have moved on and are playing in the Conference
Championships.

League award ballots are extended to Monday, January 19th at 9 on eastern.

http://www.blades99.com/ISFL/AwardsBallot0809.htm

Constitutional props can be put out at any point now to the list for discussion. Not necessary that we change anything, but if you have an
idea of how we can make things better or see something you don’t think works quite right, that’s what we’ll talk about, look for an email
on that shortly as well. Remember to please only put out fully formed ideas to the group and we’ll close the discussion on Sunday, January
18th at midnight and a ballot will be put out for the league on Monday.

Conference Championship games are due on Monday, January 26th at 9 pm eastern, so please set up your games asap. The Super Bowl will be
played as soon as the participants can set it up after these games are done. Also, the draft lottery will be done between these games,
probably next Sunday.

Remember, trading won’t open up until April 1st, so everyone will get some time off and then time to digest the ratings which hopefully will
again be our in mid March this year (if not, we’ll open trading 2 weeks following the ratings being released).

Dean Engemoen (deanengemoen@shaw.ca) has rejoined the league and will be taking over the NY Giants rebuilding project. For those who don’t
know him, Dean was the original league commissioner and left us on good terms a couple of seasons ago due to time constraints, but has
decided he missed the game and wants to get back into things and I’ve welcomed him back to the league. San Diego is also open and I have
someone considering the team and another person on the waiting list who is interested, so they will be filled shortly. If anyone else
doesn’t plan to return, please let me know asap so that I may try and fill the team well before trading opens up in April.

Week in Review

Home field was not kind in round 2 as only the NY Jets were able to defense their turf and move on to the conference championship with a
hard fought win over the tough Texans who offensively dominated the game, but as often happens, turnovers played their part and cost Houston
a chance to move on in the tournament. The Steelers went into Dallas and found a way to hold Brady under wraps, building a 17-3 lead and
then holding on for the 17-14 win with a last minute pick of Brady who had his team driving for the tying field goal.

In the NFC, there was a pair of upsets as Detroit does a huge job on Campbell, forcing Collins into the game, while Roethlisberger did just
enough to earn his club a win. In the other game, the Rams who were on a 13 game winning streak, ran into the duo of Favre (2 TD passes)
and LT (188 yards) dominating the clock and 3 TO’s from St. Louis didn’t help their cause at all as they fall to the Jaguars, looking to
get back to the SB and avenge last year’s loss.

The Offensive Player of the Week is Ladainian Tomlinson, rushing 31 times for 188 yards and helping the Jaguars to have the ball 10 more
minutes than the Rams and win a tight ballgame.

Demarcus Ware had 11 tackles, a sack and forced a fumble to help the Jaguars defense force Cutler into a terrible day, his team giving up 3
turnovers in a tough loss to earn Defensive Player of the Week.

II. News from Around the League

Playoff Matchups – Round 2 (thanks to Jeff Shelton!)

AFC Championship

Pittsburgh @ New York Jets

Qb - Jets - Garcia's numbers give Jets the edge here .

Rb - Jets - Taylor give the Jets another check

WR/TE - Jets - Steelers have no GO-TO-GUY and Jets have 2

OL - Jets - The Jets make is a clean sweep on offense with 9,8,7,7,6.5 on the line

DL – Even - Kampmans presence's for Pitt makes it even

LB - Jets - Jets have 2-9's at OLB and if the Blitzed as much as Pittsburgh does almost 60% of the time they could easily in the 20's

DB - Jets - Woodson should make it a long day for Furrey Pitt's top wideout

ST - Jets - Leon Washington is an amazing Kickoff return guys

Coaches - Steelers - Mark won the 1st ISFL title in 1997 and lost the 99 title game so he has the experience. To me this game boils down
to a question many have asked in the Action world for a long time. What matters the most talent (Ratings) or Coaching if it is talent then
Jets win in a cake walk if it is coaching the Mark keeps the game close and has chance to win it late .

New York Jets 31- Pittsburgh 14

NFC Championship Game

Jacksonville @ Detroit

Qb - Det - Big Ben gets a slight edge because he has so many weapons

RB - Jags - LT's overall game give them the edge over Detroit committee approach

WR-TE – Det - No other team in the ISFL has the weapons that Big Ben has

OL - Jags - With 2-10's on the o-line LT could have a big game

DL - Jags - with Kearney and Strahan should get pressure on Big Ben without blitzing a lot.

LB - Jags - Ware is a true difference maker and if Jags send him a lot Big Ben could be in for a long day

DB – Jags - get a slight edge with Trufant

ST – Even - both team have play makers in the return game .

Can the defending Champs get back to the ISFL Super Bowl? Det has slight edge in offensive play makers. Jags have more defensive
play makers.

Jags 27- Det 17
