I. MESSAGE FROM THE COMMISSIONER
Great week guys, everything in on time, no complaints here. Just a reminder to watch your usage on your KR and PR if they are not unlimited.
There is a new Action patch, you can either get it from the Action website or from the main page of our website. Its take 11/7/08 so make
sure everyone puts this in before they play their week 12 games.
Week in Review/Preview
The AFC is pretty well defined as the top teams for the most part win with only the Steelers falling but to the Texans but still holding a
solid lead in the division and the top first round home field slot. The Cowboys and Jets still fight it out for the #1 slot and they hold
the byes for now as they beat the Patriots and Titans respectively, with the Cowboys actually wrapping up a playoff slot by virtue of the hth
tiebreaker with the Pats. Houston beats the Central leading Steelers to keep pace in the East while the Chargers lose to Indy and both sit
tied for the 5th slot, but Indy now holds the hth tiebreaker. The Patriots tough loss against Dallas means they are 2 games out of the
playoffs right now and with just 5 games to play, another loss could mean the AFC is wrapped up, so their game this week with the NY Jets is
huge and is probably their season. The top 6 teams all play teams with losing records, except for the Chargers, and with wins, could wrap up
the AFCs 6 playoff slots with 4 weeks left, meaning just jockeying for positions from there on out. An NE win and Chargers loss could keep
things interesting though, so should prove to be a good week despite a lack of marquee matchups.
In the NFC, St. Louis continues to march on with an easy win over an undermanned Chicago club and the Rams have clinched their division already
and a playoff slot as they continue their quest for home field throughout. Philly beats up division rival Carolina, also wrapping up a playoff
slot with the win and keeping pace with the Rams and with the teams not meeting this year, it this race could get interesting as both still
have some tough games on their schedule down the road. Detroit holds a slim 1 game lead over the Jags and Falcons by virtue of their big win
over Atlanta in week 11. Jacksonville keeps pace with their win over Arizona and this is a race likely to go down to week 17. New Orleans has
the biggest win of the week, as slip by Tampa Bay and with a Green Bay loss to Miami, they hold the final NFC playoff position at this point.
St. Louis and Philly get KC and Miami, respectively in week 12, both teams who have potential to cause problems and neither team can take the
week off with the race up top so tight. Detroit hosts the Giants and Atlanta hosts the Seahawks, both teams again who have some weapons and
will make sure these teams stay honest in week 12. Jacksonville gets a stumbling Green Bay squad, who needs the win to stay alive in the
playoff race if they want to catch the Saints who have probably the toughest matchup as they head out West to face the Chargers who need this
game just as badly and will make this a tough out.
Carson Palmer edges out Tom Brady for Offensive Player of the Week as he throws for 342 yards and 4 TDs in a big win for Seattle, leading them
to a 28-9 upset of Buffalo.
Denver gets a big division win and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila is a huge part of the reason as he has 3 sacks and 3 tackles to help the defense shut
down the Browns.
II. News from Around the League
Game of the Week
New Orleans Saints at San Diego Chargers
Both coming off wins, the Saints and Chargers both are playing for something, though in the Saints case its their playoff lives while the
Chargers just try and catch the Cowboys for the AFC West division. The Saints try to hold off the Packers, Chiefs and Bucs while San Diego
is probably in good shape for the playoffs, but have an outside chance at the division and a home playoff game if they can keep winning.
